Whats up, I'm new to this 4G63 Platform & I have a few questions on buying a motor off of eBay. So I bought a 2003 evo 8 roller and slowly putting it back together and on a budget aswell. I found a 4G63 Long block on eBay for $2,800 shipped but it came out of a RVR from japan and this is one hella of a steal imo as far as putting a evo back on the road. What do i need to know buying one of these motors? will it work? Educate me! Thanks!
I would like to revive this thread if you guys don't mind. I have searched on the site and googled etc and this is the most direct question asked I have found, but then never answered. So I AM starting a build for the RVR engine imported from Japan. I have already broken down the long block and have noticed very slight changes people have mentioned like OFH and oil squirters.. but it's very freaking similar. Split thrust and head is almost identical too except for the water outlet.
So ARE they ok to build?? I keep seeing they are similar to the Evo 3 platform but this is going into an evo 8. With everyone windowing blocks or bored over like 2mm, the prices on evo 8 specific blocks are STILL like $4k... trying to get some clarity on building one and if they can handle some decent jam or not. Thanks guys and sorry, but new to the Evo community, always been into DSMs.
