Recommendations on new setup

I have a
6766 Foward facing turbo setup
2150cc
Radium dual 420 pumper
GscS2 cams
2.3L stroker , rods n pistons built head

I want to step down to a “ stocker “ setup due to drivability and reliability
what turbo setups / build would you guys recommend is very beatable , I want to drive this thing like an Evo I don’t want to just be straight down the line and I don’t want to baby the car all the time and be scared to rip it

My power goal would be around 450 , right now I’m thinking Evo 9 turbo , drop the injectors to 1000’s or so and run 1 450 pump

Question , would running stock ECU be a bad idea ?

Evo 9 turbo on a 2.3 is a bad idea. Too much back pressure. Falls on its face by 5000-5500. If you want the most fun the FP red MHI is where its at on an 8. If you had mivec you could go with a black.
Both are OEM like spool up and deliver 550-650whp on Ethanol. 420-460whp on pump gas.
If you have no plans for Ethanol then you could go down to 1000cc injectors. If you are going to run ethanol then 1650/1700/2150 will work. Your 2150's could work ok if you have a reputable tuner. Ronnie at speed lab is in CA as well as others. You get what you pay for.

I got this Evo with the setup cause of the price , to be honest I’ve never owned an Evo or driven a fast car other then a stock 2020 5.0 which was not that fast imo

I talked to an Evo specialist and he said Evo 9 turbo , drop injectors , run 1 fuel pump , & pretty much just start as small as possible to get used to an Evo or even a fast car in general . I think the FP red will be too much to start with unless if I grandma it for a while but I also want to use my car as much as possible . I’m kinda lost but I’m in between the 9 turbo and FP red

Then yeah, perhaps a cautious approach is the smart move.
OR go after brakes/handling depending on what the car has? Car has?

In this case I would still go with a red and basically keep the rest. You can setup the tune to keep the power down but why buy stuff twice?

Why pay twice. Just get a red have it tuned ,then lower the boost down to gate until you are ready.

weird. I have paid more than twice. bought a backup turbo, then got them rebuilt. new engine(s). manifold, cams, intake, injectors and got re-tuned multiple times. there is no end especially if into amateur motorsports lol

I agree with the sentiment, get the turbo that will support your ultimate goal of 450ish whp, but have it tuned down at a lower max PSI to only say run 350whp (or whatever you feel comfortable with) until you are ready to turn up the boost again, then all you have to do is that!

I am running stock evo 8 turbo on my another evo 2.3 stroker engine. Is it bad idea, not really, full boost and torque very early, really fun from lights to lights. Not the best setup but works pretty good. My original plan was to put fp red and have nice daily but money is an issue currently and I had to just put stock turbo in and a lot of torque down low is fun actually. I will eventually put fp red or even green in it but for now I don't mind this setup. If money is not an issue fp red all the way to have the most fun.
