Metal to metal sound when hitting certain bumps at highway speed. What could it be?
Full Disclosure: I was rear-ended last March and the body shop had to drop the driver's side rear suspension as part of the repair. The body shop was a nightmare to deal with so I haven't gone back to them about this issue.
Basically when I'm driving at highway speed sometimes when I hit certain bumps I'll hear a slight metal clacking sound which seems to be coming the driver's side. It's not a loud violent sound, but it's enough to annoy me. I pretty much always drive with my windows down, so I'm not sure if I'd be able to hear it if I had the windows up.
Anyone have any idea on what this could be? Or suggestions on how to diagnose it?
Best bet is to put the EvO on jack stands & pull all 4 wheels & w/a flashlight perform a detailed inspection of the suspension, driveline & exahust system

Take pics of what is found & post them up please
So I didn't get a chance to get under my car yet, but I think this is what was causing the noise? I should know what it is, but I don't... Some sort of shield?
I was on my way home work and heard what I thought was a jackhammer in the distance, but this was dragging and fell off as I was pulling into a side street.

Self fixing car, gotta like that! There's still going to be some jangle parts, the upper half of the shield and the clamps. Clear that mess out our throw a hose clamp around it.

Haha yep
Gonna take a look over the weekend. Is it necessary to run the heat shield?
