More progress today...

The engine is out of the car and on the stand. Now I will slowly and carefully take it apart over the next 2 weeks and blueprint. So far i've managed to keep things mostly organized, clean, and in a small area.

A few items I want to mention.

1. My exedy tripple disk is still fine and wearing great. No spline to disk adapter issues as of yet like some have had. Not sure if exedy addressed this or not.

2. This has been mentioned before, but the rear tow hook cover and diffuser section of a jdm rear is actually eisen grey mica (a02) and not graphite grey. I'll compare below.

Yes, i got tired of my replica XD

Such a shame that a great looking engine like this is actually a POS lol

Empty engine bay with old and tired transfer case.

Transferring from hoist to stand

The real work begins

True! I went upstairs to eat and then fell into a food coma of laziness and hysterical uncertainty.

Wait till you see my next update, you're going to laugh. That cylinder head is coming off tonight.

So I stripped down the engine to only the cylinder head and short block and found some shocking results. My intake ports are DRENCHED in oil. How in the hell is oil getting into the intake ports of the cylinder head? My new injectors were so dirty and gunked up that I sent them out for cleaning and testing.

I do use the intake manifold to provide suction/vacuum to my catch can, but even the oem setup connects straight to intake manifold without a catch can and runs clean. My turbo intercooler piping is clean for the most part. Could my cylinder head be just as screwd as my block? Valve guides set to the wrong height maybe for these cams?

Many questions to be answered, but I could use some guidance on what to do next with this cylinder head. On to the pictures!

Intake side drenched in oil. Freeze fitting improperly tightened by MAP leaking coolant. NPT fitting with no thread sealant?

Intake port 3

Intake port 2

Intake port 1

Yup, but mostly in the runners past the main intake body. Could there have been so much oil going past the rings that the pistons were pushing it past the closed intake valves? This is very weird. UICP is clean

It almost seem like the valve seals are shot.

Yeah, even though I did just replace them. Maybe my new valve guides are shot too due to incorrect install height? That's a bit out of my area of expertise as I've never pressed in valve guides myself.

Once I take the cylinder head off tonight, we can know the extent of the damage. At that point I can at least have a better idea of what's more to blame. The cylinder head or the short block.

I have a hard time believing you have an issue with a Boostin cylinder head. But who knows. That's a lot of oil in there. It's either intake valve seals, or it's all coming from the PCV.

I'm leaning towards all of it coming from the PCV as well. I'll peak inside the intake mani and look at those small holes that run to the PCV line vacuum tube that stick out into each runner. Seeing as how the outside of the cylinder head flange was coated with oil, that could be the case. I need to contact STM and see how their catch can is baffled internally because mine used to be vented and I just capped it. That still doesn't explain the oil consumption issue though because that is oil that would have gone to the catch can anyway.
