Before I owned an EVO, I was a DSM guy and remember going through tons of ads for eagle talons, eclipses and galants with extremely high mileage. It was pretty much impossible to find one with low mileage that was not beaten to death by the previous owner. On top of this, most tuner cars have less than appealing body kits, wings, underglow, etc. on them (not to mention engine mods).

Once I began to frequent the evoM forums and looked at listings for EVO's for sale I realized 80% of them had extremely low mileage with little to no ugly exterior mods. I'm talking mileage that is less than 8k or even 4k a year to some extremes.

So my question is this, why do EVO owners keep their cars with such low mileage?

Those low mileage EVO's are garage queens, my 05 garage queen has only 33k miles in 6.5 years of ownership that's around 5k miles per year. The first four years I drove her more because she was stock. After the mods started I drove her less and less. Actually last time I drove my EVO 8 was in September of last year.

 

Nice, I wish I could find one with low milage! I have 07 STi with 4,000 miles, looking to buy a Evo with low milage!

 

I have a 08 GSR with 24k on it. I bought it with 22k in Feb 11' and have only put 2k on it. My last car was an 07 SI. I got it with 7.5k miles on it. In 2 years on only put 14k on it. I think that most Evo owners like to keep the miles down for resale value and plans to keep the car for a long time.

 

I don't put any mileage on mine (about 2.5k in the past year) because 1: it's in the shop either for maintenance or aftermarket goodies 2: I'm gone somewhere for work. :-(

Got a 06 45k on it. I have a beater and I can't afford to replace tires brakes lube oil and upgrades every 300 yards. Plus I love the car and plan to keep it a long time

 

I have an '06 with 40k on it. If I hadn't used it for a lot of travel and put a ton of highway miles on her it would have 20k.

I think its because most of us have daily drivers. Recently i noticed its hard to find a IX much less an VIII with 20k on it.

 

Mine's an '03 with 104K. I beat myself up all the time that I don't get to drive it enough! I keep telling my wife we need to move further away from work & such....she wants to live across the street from her job.. When gas was cheaper seemingly WAY back, I used to go for drives out into the mountains, or to the coast just to drive that thing & enjoy it!! With the economy the way it is, I took a huge hit in income, so if I lost my Evo I probably wouldn't be able to get another one for awhile. I consider myself very lucky to have been able to purchase it when I did make more moolah, so I try to drive it as much as I can & enjoy it while I still have it. I have always been criticizing of people who baby their cars & don't drive them...I can understand 4-6K a year if it's a weekend car. But a 5-7 yr. old Evo with 5, 6K on the ODO? Who could deprive a vehicle that was born to be driven to be locked up like that?

There's a dude over in the UK I'd love to meet & shake his hand for driving the **** out of his car - an '04 Lamborghini Murcialago. He writes a 1-page article every few months for some motor mag giving updates on current mileage & any service he's had to do. It's been awhile since I've read any updates, but as of Nov. 2009, he was already at 120,000 miles!!!! That's what I'm talking about! He's my hero for not being a total ***** like 99% of exotic car owners who are afraid to roll their car out of the garage! So when I see guys with Evo's/STI with mileage that hasn't even broken 5 digits....come on..

 

'03 with 122k on her and counting. I don't have the luxury of having more than one car at a time. When I get it paid off, I'll be able to freshen her up with new stuff. I want to keep this car as long as I can.

It's like my friend told me. Not driving your car is like having a beautiful wife you don't have sex with so she will be more desirable for her next husband.

 

My 9 has 22k miles, and it is definitely a garage queen. lol

 

DING, DING, DING! Another vehicle and a bike, so the evo is not driven everyday, got in Aug 07 brand new, and now has 17,XXX, and seeing as how this is the first car I have ever bought BRAND new, most expensive and at 31,000 dollars, you could say I baby it, o yea and deployments being military, its seen about a year of storage as well

 

I just turned 19k with my 06'. I bought it with 12,500 2 years ago. Soo 6500 miles in 2 years. I have an Honda Pilot as my daily. I only drive the evo on nice days.
