Don't bump your own for sale threads. Evidently the system is designed to discourage people from selling parts. I lost 17 points for bumping this thread:

I'm pretty sure that I will lose some more points for posting this.

Thank you for letting me know. We will be reviewing your posts for the last week for any indication why. There have only been a few reports of point reduction after a week with positive contributions. Thanks again!

I'm more than happy to try to help by reviewing a point loss over several days, however I cannot provide you with a post by post point accounting. If you are unable to accept that then I suggest you ignore the system. Thanks.

Myabe you guys should select several "types" of accounts for tracking. For instance, one that logs on everyday from 7am to 10 pm, one that only logs on from 8-9pm, etc, etc. And then use them as a sample group to find out how the system is really working.

Bob, I completely understand your position, and I appreciate you and the other moderators who do a good job of keeping things under control on this board. For the most part I do ignore the system. This thread caught my attention for some reason and I commented on it. By commenting on it I was automatically subscribed, and so it keeps popping back up when I check my user CP. I have not unsubscribed because I still find it interesting. I still think that the points system logic is seriously flawed. A good example is losing 17 experience points for bumping your own for sale thread, unless of course the board wants to discourage this type of activity.

You have said that a primary goal for this system is to "encourage positive contributions". If there is no way to identify why points are given or taken away, then I fail to see how the system is going to encourage positive contributions. If you want to attempt to modify people's behavior, and reward them for what the board considers positive contributions, then it is essential that people are able to identify whether their activities are viewed as positive (points given) or negative (points taken away).

IMO the system is much too complicated, with too many variables that can't be explained to posters. Having said this, I will just go back to making posts where I feel that they are appropriate, and working my way back to zero points!

I just lost thousands of points, and dropped about 30 levels because i "resurrected" a dead thread. the thread is my own motor build of my own car, that was put on a few months of hold, cuz nobody can fix my ecu. I honestly dont care4 about the point system at all. It just made me L O L.

Hey!

Thank you and I'll see if we can fix that. Also, thanks to everyone who commented in this thread. I wanted to get a couple of weeks worth of experience with Evom Experience then start tweaking again. I'm hoping we can eliminate (or reduce) those parts of the logic that remove excessive points for certain forum activities . Thanks again!

Bob, I just dropped 87 points and I cannot figure out why. It seems like it is almost not worth posting because I am going backwards every time I post. I take one step forward and 10 steps backwards.

Thanks. We did make some changes to the algorithm today to address the feedback. The unfortunate part is there is no way to make the changes without affecting many users. All I can ask is that you bare with us through this startup phase.

this whole point thing is discouraging me from even wanting to post just due to the fact that most posts are continuing from older threads. i've lost more points with the posts then i've gained over the last few days

I lost 744 experience points and dropped 5 levels for making this post in the Vendor Service, Parts & Tuning Review section of the forum.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ve...ly-busted.html

Looks like the system has extreme penalties for posting honest comments about a vendor. If this system is working as intended it is a complete sham! It appears that I will be back to zero points sooner than I thought.

Hey everyone!

As I stated above we made adjustments to the system yesterday in response to feedback. Those adjustments resulted in changes for many members including me. I lost several thousand points plus 13 levels.

Some of you are assuming point reductions for actions that are not related to your direct action. The system does not judge the content of posts. The system does not remove points for lowering your price and discussing how to video. The system cannot judge your integrity. You can view the attributes that count toward points in your user control panel. The system is making adjustments in background based upon all your posts and activities since you registered. A thread could be removed, or bumped or your last post was superseded in any of the hundreds or thousands of posts you made. Unless the point change falls into one of the categories listed in your user CP, it is a coincidence. Again, Points are going to go up and down as we make adjustment and eventually settle out at a level which should start reflect your activities going forward. If we don't see that happening we will fix it. Thanks.

Bob, with all due respect, IMO much of what you say here is just not accurate.

"Some of you are assuming point reductions for actions that are not related to your direct action."

With very rare exception, if I go for a period of time without making a post my experience points remain unchanged. The exceptions are relatively easy to identify. Shortly after every post I make my experience points are revised. This is simply not a coincidence as you have inferred.

I just compared over 25 changes in my experience points to my posts on a timeline. 100% of the time there was a direct correlation between making a post and revisions to experience points. In other words, in every case my experience points were adjusted shortly after making a post. This is not a coincidence.

The thread that I referred to above has been deleted because it wasn't favorable to a paying sponsor, but I can tell you that several posters in that thread lost several hundred experience points a few minutes after posting in that thread - coincidence - I don't think so. A few minutes after I posted in that thread, I lost 744 experience points.
