Hi!

Aren't the majority being flamed for not searching vice starting a new thread? Again, using common sense in the decision to bump or start a new one is the best approach. Thanks!

I've seen moderators close a thread with one word "search" and now we are supposed to start a new thread? Seems like the right hand isn't talking to the left.

Hey!

I don't think so Josh. The point being if the member had searched they would have found the information they were looking for without the need to start a new thread or bump another. "Do I need a turbo timer" will bring the heat.

Also, I was checking on your post above and first thank for your service to our country! The points are going to change frequently as recalculation occurs several times a day. Keep a 'long term' view and your point count will steadily climb with your contributions! I'm honestly not sure if a double post counts for anything, but just report the post and the moderators will be happy to remove it. Stay safe and thanks.

My suggestion would be to put a reason or even a hot link to what post or thread the points where given or removed because of. If I am losing points because of a double post generated from crappy internet service while in Afghanistan it would lend me to believe that attempting to contribute to the forum while over here will result in a net loss of points.

"The biggest reason for point loss occurs when you had the last post in a thread and it is followed by another member's post" -emphasis added-

Is this seriously how the algorithim is written?

Honestly not to be to negative but it seems like I am loosing points left and right for whatever reason but its a sham. I mean you can't even have a regular discussion without losing points. Hell I got points taken away for saying the word "blah" in a post in reference to a buddys post. I mean really? It was ment in a disagreement but we all dont agree, but that doesn't mean I am not a good contributer. I do my best to give proper and accurate info, but lets face it we all don't agree on everything.

Thank you for the feedback. We will continue to 'tune' the points and awards to remove the negative incentives. Please let us know if you find any other points that do not make sense.

I simply answered a question someone asked on my install guide (stickied), and lost 922 points for Second guesser, and had the Final word.

Thank you for letting us know. We'll take a look at the logic.

I am sure this is just like any other program and it takes some time to work out the bugs and get all your prameters set to where they make since. I also think that if you have a last word in a thread and you gain points for it, if someone replys to in a certain time frame that you shouldn't lose points for that being someone is always gonna respond to the threads at some point in time. A little more help from my end to make things work better

Honestly? Lose points for someone posting after you? Now that's funny. Hope ya'll figure it out. I'm not sure if I care about the point system, or sure I should care...seems silly to me to worry about something so minuscule. To each his own I guess.
