Losing exp points?
Bob,
I thought I'd share this since you guys are working on the system. I own a 11 Lancer DE, when I look through the forums for my car model, not many threads are made, therefore we have to revive older threads to get updates or more info about products or DIYs. On two occasions I lost points for doing so, -58 and -2270. I personally dont pay much attention to the point system since not much activity goes on for lower level lancers, but some might. Just a heads up.

This point system is wack. The only people whom should have points are the vendors. Just like the resturaunt ratings in nyc. It rewards the truly outstanding shops and forces the average shop to either develop better service or product to remain in the market place.

Honestly I don't care about the points, level, etc...But I lost 5 "Levels" out of nowhere today...I have been sitting at the same "Level" since this stuff was setup...haha...Oh well!
Yes, this is a great idea. It would be far better to have a points system for the vendors. All of the members could instantly see what kind of customer service they have as well as products offered. The points system simply isn't any fun and actually makes one feel like any contribution to the site is somehow being viewed as a drawback by the site.
This is all very good stuff
I just noticed today that I dropped in points as well. I was a level 40 & proud of it
Now, today, level 39
I thought I was moving fwd here on EVOM
EDIT: I just read a previous post that suggested ditching the point system & allowing larger avatars, now that I like

the points system is a great concept, but in production it seems to penalize contributing to the community and reward pointless achievements/etc. at this time i just ignore it.

Obviously this point system isn't what its cracked up to be. There definately needs to be some tweeking done here. After reading some of these posts the points system just needs to be ignored.
How does someone like B.J. who is a Silver Sponsor have so little points when he constantly adds knowledge and helpful information?
How does a newbie get so many points for starting threads like - Do I need a tune after installing a catback, and Can I stretch a 215 tire on a 10.5 wheel?
I'm not saying that I'm full of great info cause I'm learning things too but seriously whats up?
BTW the quote button is not your friend!

I lost 744 experience points and dropped 5 levels for making this post in the Vendor Service, Parts & Tuning Review section of the forum.

Looks like the system has extreme penalties for posting honest comments about a vendor. If this system is working as intended it is a complete sham! It appears that I will be back to zero points sooner than I thought.
