Evo vs. STI | Anything and Everything [ALL THREADS MERGED]
It is the '03-04 model, it will be a facelift in europe and japan because no one over there likes the bug-eye look, but we will probably not be getting that look when we get the sti. that is what road and track said.
That is the new Sti. It had it's debut at the Paris auto show. That is the body style we will be getting for the Wrx and Wrx Sti...I have heard the Sti will debut that new body style here in the states next year. I repeat, for those not reading other car forums...the bug eyes will be gone SOON
(about 6 months) (bug eyes are already gone in Japan)

I think the STi in the top pic is actually the 22B. It was a Subie special project limited to the production numbers required for some race series that escapes me now. They made like 50 of them or something. We'll never see one of those for sale stateside. I could have told you more when I was in love with Subie- but it was their salespeople that turned me off of the cars. All of the dealerships around here treated me like ****. No way was I gonna give those people my cashish. So now I love my
don't know if this has been posted before since i just joined...but, just a couple more pics:

Some official news on the new STi:
"Subaru Impreza S202 STi — Think WRX With an Attitude
It wasn't that long ago when Subaru was known primarily as a maker of winter vehicles, rugged little things with unassuming shapes and all-wheel drive. Well, thanks to the tremendous success of the Impreza WRX, the little Japanese company's image has undergone a 180-degree turnaround. Say the name Subaru now, and you instantly evoke a young, sporty image.
The WRX has been a tremendous hit, with more than 20,000 cars sold to date in the U.S. Despite being classified as a compact sedan, the quirky 4-door is really a disguised sports coupe armed with a 227-bhp turbocharged flat-4. Combine that with the WRX's all-wheel drive, and you have a car that packs enough performance to satisfy most weekend boy racers...but not all. There are those who are patiently waiting for the arrival of the STi version.
STi (Subaru Technica International) is Subaru's racing arm. It is responsible for running the factory World Rally Championship team. It also makes and markets performance parts and special-edition cars in Japan only. But according to STi President Masaru Katsurada, that will soon change.
"I feel that STi should go international. The time is right for us now because of the success of the WRX. I want to have a presence in Europe and the U.S.," he said.
So what's keeping him? Katsurada wouldn't say at first, but when the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII was mentioned, a car headed our way next spring, he instantly became more animated.
"In whatever shape or form the Mitsubishi Evolution VIII comes in, we'll be prepared to counter it. So yes, you can assume that we're saving the STi brand for that chore. And I'm sure Mitsubishi is already prepared to counter our STi effort. It's a chess match between them and us in Japan currently, and the case will be no different in the States," he said.
I received a small sampling of what Subaru may have in store to counter the Evo VIII. It's called the S202 STi, and it's one of the fastest 4-doors on the planet today. STi built only 400 of them and within two weeks, without any advertising, all were spoken for.
The S202 is powered by a 2.0-liter flat-4 that produces 320 bhp at 6400 rpm, a figure that tops the anticipated 275 bhp of the Evo VIII. You can expect 0-to-60-mph times to be well under the 5-second mark. I had a chance to drive the S202 on a winding mountain road about two hours outside of Tokyo. Here, the S202 performed admirably. As soon as you step on the throttle, all four tires bite the tarmac, squirting the car forward. When the revs reach 3000, the car finds its true stride, surging forward with alacrity, slamming your torso into the seatback.
The handling components of the S202 are equally impressive. Lowered and fitted with stiffer springs and shocks, the understeering character of the stock WRX has been all but eliminated. The steering is quick and razor sharp, and the car remains neutral through virtually all types of turns. Stickier tires also account for the car's excellent cornering ability.
The S202 will not be marketed in the U.S., but it's safe to assume that we'll see something like it late next year or sooner. But then, that all depends on the potency of Mitsubishi's Evo VIII. — Sam Mitani"
Not to worry, this STi won't be launched in the US.
Its definately enough to match up against the Evo VIII! Guess we'll find out soon enough.
