Evo vs. STI | Anything and Everything [ALL THREADS MERGED]
Evolution versus the WRX STi. Track car versus rally car. I'll stick to the track and my Evolution. So much cleaner.
Other track cars you might want to consider:
Spoon S2000
Corvette Z06
E30 M3

Whats the idea behind this track car and rally car thing? What backs it up... just curious because I am also debating over the STi and the VIII (though I'm prolly gonna get the VIII anyways).

i don't know why people who like the lancer evo don't like the wrx (or sti), and vice versa. i have the wrx and love it everyday. i'm sure the sti and evo are better. and i hope i will own them both someday. i don't think any one is a head and shoulder above the other. by the way, it's not always the car, it's the driver who drives it.

I gotta agree also that the STi/Evo debate is way over taxed. Every shootout I've seen between the two indicates comparing the cars are so equal it's like splitting hairs. They're both fabulous machines and if you take two of 'em straight from the show room, you'd love 'em both. A quarter of the replies in this thread to have been nothing but eneducated attempts to use smilies.

I have no idea why that is; I therefore consider it to be down to lack of cognition and like to pick on it / joke about it.
An STI is obviously a very good car, only slightly less good than an Evo. But it is less raw: the suspension is softer, the brakes fade earlier, it understeers much more and also looks softer I find. The gear command is very imprecise. The best gearbox commands I have experienced from the precision and shifting / locking are the Evo and the Honda Civic Type R.

The big ram scoop and the deep core seem to work just fine for the most mart

anyways, i might trade in my wrx for the evo sometime next year. "driving is believing", like Hyundai's ad slogan
. hope they don't mark it up too much like those new thunderbird's. they'd better release loads of them!
