Hi folks,
I'm another first time poster and new Evo owner. I got mine last Thursday (8-28) and I got it for $27750 (sticker of $30812). It is blue with the spoiler and sunroof. The numbers posted by Mark F seem to jive with what I paid.

$26891 (invoice)+ $418 (spoiler) + $653 (roof) = $27962

The dealer said he was giving it to me for $750 below invoice. I guess that would be $750 below invoice with maybe the dealer association fee or something. He did mention that Mitsu had provided an incentive to his dealership if they sold 20 cars over the Labor Day holiday and one had to be an Evo. He also gave me an extended warranty (7 years / 100k miles) for $1000 and 3.59% financing for 60 months (I'm a 28 year old home owner who has a steady paying engineering job. I have good credit). They didn't even show me the Pit Pass video and I made 0 down payment. None. I was going to use the equity in my 1997 Eclipse GS-T as down payment but they lowballed me and I told them I would sell it myself. This was after we fixed a price for the Evo.

Here are the things I think I did right.
1) I only entered the dealership after I knew they were ready to deal. I had heard from 2 other dealerships here in ATL that they had to dump Evos on the internet to get rid of them. One guy offered me a black one for $27438. He told me his dealership was not proud of the Evo and they had to get rid of them. The black one had been on the floor for 60 days. I let it go because I wanted blue. I told the dealer I bought from the stories I had heard and he got real quite and said he would work with me.
2) I had preapproved financing. Go in with your guns loaded and they respect you. I ended up using their financing because the interest rate was better, but it still shows you are serious.
3) Go in at the end of the month. Tax man cometh at the end of the month and dealerships get taxed for stocked merchandise.
4) Go in late. I got there 45 minutes before they closed and told them I just wanted to know what they would do for a price. The only people there were the sales manager, one other salesman and the finance guy. I dealt directly with the sales manager. We were there until 11:30 signing papers. The finance guy controlled the warranty. He wanted to go home and when I said I thought their extended warranty was to high, he knocked $500 off of it.
5) I do think I got a bit of a deal due to a holiday weekend incentive.
6) Let them know that you'll walk out if they don't provide a number you feel is right. Don't be a jerk about it, but let them know. You must also believe it yourself. I knew I had a perfectly good Eclipse and if I didn't get the Evo that day, then no big deal.

That is about all I can think of right now. Sorry about the long post, but I think this stuff is important. Dropping thousands on a car, even one you are passionate about, requires a lot of consideration. I would also like to say that evolutionm.net was a great aid in my research prior to buying the car.

Best wishes,
F86sabre

rebelzx, I got mine with a sunroof from Bell South for roughly the same, I got it for 29,100 before taxes and tags. Great people over there.

Wow, I guess I got screwed. Someone always gets a better deal I guess, but Im happier than the people who payed MSRP or over it. They do exist, in fact, one guy I met at the track was in just such a situation. Payed a 1K premium. He was pissed that I got my car for 2700 less than he did.....

And btw, I got an average deal I believe, put 2500 down, 6.15 percent interest over 72 month. I pay 465+ gap coverage on the car. I think I made out OK, but for the extra grand to save, it was easy to just say "screw it" and drive home in it. God I love that car.

For clarification, I got the car from Bell Mitsubishi on Route 1 South, not Bell South Mitsubishi. I went there too though, but they couldn't match the offer I had from Bell. Both are great dealerships and treated me with respect.
