We need a specific EVO IX forum
How can anyone say that there is no major difference btw. the two evos. I have asked a couple of vendors if the cams for the viii fit the ix and they can't even give me a straight answer. What about the tuning? I think that there are couple or major differences. In any case, a seperate section on the forum is not a necessity but a covenience for many of us IX owners. The car has evolved for generations and so should the site.
BTW - Flaming is becoming almost as frequent as in nasioc.com. Thats a little concerning...

Ok, the noob level in this thread concerning the IX forum advocates is going way beyond my tolerance. I wonder if anybody on here works on their own cars? If you do, you would know there aren't that many differences (mechanically) that would require a different section!!!!!!!! By that, I don't mean paying a vendor.
In the case of tuning, the IX ecu has a different harness with the variable intake cam. That's all that i've been able to tell so far. But I hope that everyone here knwos that all cars are generally the same. Why do you think SAFCs, AEM standalones, emanages, autronic standalones ect work for general cars? Ah i'm done.

man ive never seen so many whiners and lazy asses here.creating another forum is easily said than done.new forums means they gotta beef up the forum staff.gonna have more garbage to clean up and threads to deal with than rather having it all into one roof.you guys ask for separate section for the 8 and 9 evo's specially for noobs but at the same time a new guy comes in and asks questions some people would start jumpin in and post up crap like "search is your friend" etc etc etc so whats the point??
i say just keep it as it is and if anybody do decide to asks questions, be REALLY more specific or do just use the SEARCH tab.this is a free forum that is being run diligently by a handful of people who uses their time in their life to moderate and run the boards as smoothly as possible.so i just see this as a waste of time for them and creating more headache to deal with.

Of all things, why isn't there a evolutionRS.com ?

I suspect the IX section will be the same.

The Evo. IX has some many different characteristics that make it different from the Evo. VIII, it is just that so many Evo. VIII owners are bias towards the XI.
If it was the same as the Evo. VIII then Mits. wouldn't have called it the IX.
Not many aftermarket tuners have tackled the IX yet, and most are steering away because it is different from the VIII.
Just ask Al of Dynoflash, if he thinks the VIII and the XI are identical. It obviously is different if it makes more horsepower and take just more than a different turbo to get more power,: fuel, ecu, etc....
Besides, if the XI was the same as the VIII, then why does it have more horsepower? And if your answer is that it has this and that the VIII doesn't, then you have settled your own opinion
It is a night and day difference of the VIII and the XI. Just watch the Best Motoring DVD on the IX comparison.

I still think that the EvoIX should have a different section and not a different forum , I reiterate that the differences between the Evo8 and the Evo 9 are very insignificant.
95% of the forum talks about the same $hit:
suspension
the shoes(rims and tires)
the drag racing
the turbo upgrades
the exhaust
the stereos
the intrior and exterior cosmetics, etc, etc, etc
So, my question is: what is so special about the Evo 9 that we need to create a new forum just for it when we can share the same damn topics?
For real, lets be honest, what "new " topic are we going to cover on the "new Evo9" the Mivec? No one has talked about it so far and the car has been in the market for almost 3 month.
I repeat, what "new topic" are the people going to talk about the Evo 9 that hasn't been covered already on the Evo 8? Let me guess, Ohhh, now the steering wheels is black instead of silver.. WOW what a difference.
Wait a minute, the Evo 9 comes with different shape rims.. WOW lets open a topic and talk about the new innovative Evo 9 rims.
I have a better one.. lets talk about that the Evo 9 has two holes on the Bumper and the Evo 8 doesn't. Wow, that must cool down the engine a whole lot, lets talk about that.
You see what I mean guys? Tell me one single topic that hasn't been covered already on the Evo 8, then justify me that the Evo 9 really deserves a brand new forum and not a section within this forum.
I don't get it, this is not like a WRX and a STI, there are hundreds of differences between the WRX and STI. There are very minor differences between the Evo 8 and the Evo 9.
I say keep the Evo 9 within this forum.
my .2c

i say make an evo IX forum. start it off very general, as evo IX, anything gets mosted in there, engine / drivetrain / suspension / general, see how it goes and if its necessary to really differentiate it from the rest of the forums. i personally think it would be helpful as there are many new aspects to the new car, and many people are looking fo r alot of IX specific material such as mivec information, parts that will fit the car, new parts developed that will specifically fit the IX, tuning on the IX, what other shops are doing with the IX. I just see a lot of reasons to give the IX at least some kind of general forum for righ tnow. as far as having to find more forum staffing, with the IX comes more enthusiasts, more owners, more members. The staff will support and fill itself.
Everyone justs need to make their post like this:
VIII - My clutch is going out and I dont racing
IX- My car is hella fast with just a flash
In other words, everyone should just put the number of the evo (VIII,IX, etc.) in the beginning of the thread title.

just my 2c there are 3 different type of EVO's RS,GSR,and MR. all are very different right. yet we all get along. This works becouse we all have a love for the EVO. not just one or the other I love reading about the new 9 and look fwd to new developments.
There is no need for a seprate forum the more the better. Thats just what we need split it up into smaller groups.
Hey you cant post in here you only have a 03 EVO rs this is a 04 gsr forum.
lol.ect.

my main problem is you cant search specifically on the evo "ix" or evo "9" ... I've tried Evoix combined but it doesnt yield the same results. Then I'll find several "Evo 9" or Evo IX" threads that my search doesnt even pick up.
I don't think a IX section would be needed, I mean, there's a lot of similarities and few differences to make and monitor an entirely new section. Sure, searching can be difficult, but that's what the newbs gotta do anyways.
