Its getting rather confusing with lots of people owning the EVO IX now. I would like to see a specific forum for the IX, instead of people talking about them in the "future model" section......

I like this idea a lot, it would make it easier to keep updated on the happendings of the IX.

 

Let's face it the IX and VIII are not the same car, there are minor but significant differences between the two that could warrant a seperate forum section. Plus a lot of questions and information being posted about the IX have already been answered or posted on the VIII countless times, but the info and questions are still important because the answers and the info is different for the IX than it is for the VIII. For example, say that a thread was posted like this-

"Dyno numbers of a EVO IX with Buschur Catback Exhaust, Buschur Downpipe, Buschur High Flow Cat, ECUTEK Flash, and Forge MBC"

Now such a thread has been created countless numbers of times with EVO VIIIs with similiar mods and would be un-interesting, yet with the IX, the numbers would be of great interest and some controversy.

Or how about a question like this-

"Who has Cams or is developing Cams for the EVO IX?"

Again this thread relates only to the IX and has nothing to do with the VIII.

Another example-

"What will a IX with a Flash and TBE run in the 1/4 mile?"

Another question that has nothing to do with the VIII and the answers for this question may be much different if it were asked regarding a VIII instead of a IX.

Basically what I am saying is that a seperate forum section is important in my opinion so that the general forum does not get cluttered with questions that have already been answered for the VIII and not the IX.

 

Sorry last post, take a look at the EVO general section and you will see the section is already beginning to become cluttered with these IX questions and information. Important and interesting they are still, and warrant a seperate forum section in my opinion.

I too I would like to see a specific forum for the Evo. IX.

It will be a place were aftermarket tuners can go inform future and present Evo. IX owners with any updates on parts they may offer or anything that would be a plus for the Evo. IX customers.

Prevents Evo. IX owners posting on a tread with results and info. mainly for Evo VIII owners asking what about for the Evo. IX? Which I have done before and got back no response.

An Evo. IX forum would be great and will fill up quick due to people are looking for info. that are wanting and waiting to buy an Evo. IX or have one already.

No. We don't need another forum for the EVO9 , what we need is another section within this forum, the EVO8 and the EVO9 are 99% identical, there are minor cosmetical changes and minor engine mods but for the most part the mayority of the topics are shared equally(brakes, suspension,rims,tires,tunning,mods,interior, etc, etc)

Overall, there is NOTHING new and different that you are going to deal on the EVO 9 that it hasn't being covered already for the Evo 8, that means NOTHING(and yes, I am aware the Evo9 has MIVEC) , perhaps the one thing is still uncovered is the CAMS on the new EVO9, that is still an unexplore territory.

fromWRXtoEVO, your wrong about the Evo. VIII and the Evo. IX being the same.

The Evo. IX has some many different characteristics that make it different from the Evo. VIII, it is just that so many Evo. VIII owners are bias towards the XI.

If it was the same as the Evo. VIII then Mits. wouldn't have called it the IX.

Not many aftermarket tuners have tackled the IX yet, and most are steering away because it is different from the VIII.

Just ask Al of Dynoflash, if he thinks the VIII and the XI are identical. It obviously is different if it makes more horsepower and take just more than a different turbo to get more power,: fuel, ecu, etc....

Besides, if the XI was the same as the VIII, then why does it have more horsepower? And if your answer is that it has this and that the VIII doesn't, then you have settled your own opinion

It is a night and day difference of the VIII and the XI. Just watch the Best Motoring DVD on the IX comparison.

 

EvoM is a lancer and Evo forum, not an Evo VIII forum.

The IX fits in nicely with the present configuration. The IX and the VIII have many things in common and have several differences. The primary being the turbo, MIVEC and the ECU. Everything else is basically the same.

It is interesting to note that fromWRXtoEVO has this opinion considering he has both.....

 

I vote against the IX section. I owned both, and granted there's some differences, but it's the same damn car, just extra goodies... It's like some MR owners making their own forum because it's sooo much different from non-MR's
