Why things are the way they are!

Mods, feel free to move, delete or pick this post apart. I am NOT looking for trouble and I am not singling anyone out, so be that as it may, I just want to share my observations with the board.

In the past two years the moderators have had an increasingly difficult time monitoring this board and keeping it alive.

Name calling, bastardizing threads and complete misuse of an otherwise great resource have made this place very difficult to read at. I myself am not without sin with these rules....but I can say that when someone gives me a valid opinion, I respect it and even though I may disagree, as long as it was not ill hearted or malicious, I can disagree with an appropriate demeanor.

For those who know it all, you may want to consider some of americas rules. America has the freedom of speech like no other country in the world. Following that set of rules is this board. With the rules comes another right, the right to SHUT UP!

If someone says something derogatory, racist, threatening, out of line or disrespectful, let the moderators deal with it.

If someone has an opinion that differs from your own, either learn how to disagree cordially or, SHUT UP!

Nobody wants to hear how much better your idea or plan of action is because YOU thought of it. If you can't show support for the people here who are all trying to have fun, get out. I myself have been around a plenty long time on message boards in general and a decent amount of time on EvoM that I can speak from experience. Nobody cares that you think you did it so much better. If you can't prove it with facts or do it nicely, then keep it to yourself.

If someone has a grand arguement to make, learn how to spell check. If you genuinely have a hard time with language or literacy, PM anyone you may think can help, including myself and I/we would be happy to lend a hand. I am not perfect, but if I am going to prove someone wrong, I speak with intellect and respect, and do so, NICELY.

Nice write up! I totally agree with you, this forum really has too many know it all who cannot respect ideas other than their own.

One of the things that make the web great is also one of its huge flaws.
It draws its information from a very broad sampling and this also includes the users here on EvoM. You get a very large range of abilities and dramatically different approaches to discussions and conflict resolution -- some of which are highly inappropriate

Also everything that is posted is done so with a bias whether we are aware of it or not. This can sway things away from a helpful community to warring factions. It is the very difficult job of the moderators to guide things towards the community and the path is not always an obvious one.

I truly hope that things don’t degrade too far as I enjoy this forum. I have learned much about the Evo through threads and have had many entertaining discussions.

Both threads by feldguy were very nicely done. I agree 100%, if you do not have something nice to say then do not say it! If you disagree then do it respectfully. I think people should stop putting other people down for there own opinions, ways they want to mod there vehicle, or what they want to put on there vehicle. Just MO.

No prob., I am just in total agreement of what you said. If everybody did there mods the way some people say on this board, then everybody would be the same. Everybody is diff. and has diff. opinions and that is what makes this board so great. What sucks is when people put other people down for wanting to put more expensive items on there vehicle, or not modding there vehicle the way they want it done. I feel like my dad is writing on this forum sometimes telling me that I am wrong for what I like and because I am not doing it his way, I am wrong. I am tired of all of the bickering because someone doesn't see it there way. State your opinion and get on with your life. Life is too short to complain about little stuff like this.

sorry i dont agree entirely with the "if you dont have something nice to say, dont say it at all" type thinking. best shown in the "show and shine" section, where one member posts pictures of his car and expects only positive comments. That kinda contradicts the very purpose of 'forums', i think discussions are good. I agree sometimes they do get outta hand and I also agree with you that anything negative should be said in a respectful tone... but to say dont post negative remarks is stupid.

Cool

well put. some vendors on here are the same way sometimes....i agree also. it is really sad that there is bickering on the forum. i, too, am guilty of this. when i first joined i was verbally attacked by a member on here and made mention to a moderator. the moderator didnt put the other party in check, he put me in check. ?!?!??!! i seriously think some of the things that are honest questions or opinions are taken the wrong way by some people on here and they just get put down or are told to take their rice somewheres else. everyone has their own opinions, knowledge, experiences, styles, etc. and they should all be respected. i rarely ever post on here just because of the fact that others will ATTACK because they think they know all. truth be told, they probably dont. they heard from this guy or that guy, that it will work , but they drive a srt4 or a civic. you get the idea...

AllYouCanTiff, what I meant by that was just simply to be respectful and not to go on if that other person does not agree with what you have to say. You are right, it would not be a forum if you did not put your .02 in and agreed with everybody.

This might explain why "Evo General" has been so popular lately...
