Possible Detailing sub-forum?
What do you guys think? On clubwrx.net, the detailing forum was a huge success. I just thought I would mention this in light of all the recent detailing posts and questions.
It's really what the Show and Shine forum is for. Personally I think it's a bit redundant, and that we're coming closer and closer to having a "2003 Evolution VIII's with VIN's between XXXXXXXX and XXXXXXXX 3rd gear transmission show and shine tech for sale" forum with virtually every new one we create.
That is a show and shine topic. At best a sub forum in show and shine. For now though we would prefer to keep it just as one as we are trying to keep things as efficient as possible. There will eb abit of a restructure to account for the new evo and lancers coming this year, and maybe we will work it out then.
lol, everyday someone posts a comically redundant new thread. "Post your clean evo" "Post your favorite evo" "Post you favorite TB evo" "What should my plate say?" "Post your pictures of my evo." How about you make a sticky, and every time someone creates a new a thread about detailing, they can add a link and a blurb to the sticky?
I would totally be for a detailing sub thread but Carloverx is probably right, we'd end up with a mess of posts irrelevant to detailing. I mean if show and shine is getting posts of birds in windows (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=274173) then what hope do we have of actually keeping the thread exclusively about detailing. At best Mitch, myself and anyone else who actually wants to offer advice on detailing should compile a comprehensive guide on detailing with some sort of analysis on different detailing products and then have the admins sticky the post to the top of show and shine. Just my $.02.

I agree. I would need to try out some more products to really do a good job of comparing them but I am up to the task if anyone else wants to help. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

We could always put it up and determine if it is popular enough to stay. I really do not see a reason why we need it as a separate subforum, but if enough people do, so be it.
We repeatedly got requests for a separate nitrous tuning section that members claimed would be too busy to go in with alky/water injection, and look at it. Something like 6 total threads in 4 months. If that is the case, it will not stay

I agree. unless it's used as often as people ask for it then it's not useful.
instead of hijacking altogether I have created a thread.

sorry to hijack, but a while back I asked Otter about a technical forum for the RA community. we have general, na/drivetrain, and forced induction. Lately we have had some advanced topics come up that don't really fit into one of the three, more like all three. I have no interest in being a mod, but if you are short staffed I would much rather moderate a tech forum than not have one. It's become especially evident now that people are beginning to understand the importance of tuning this engine that we need to separate the novice crowd from the experienced crown, or at least highlight when someone is leaving the realm of the obvious and entering the realm of the unknown.
for your reference please take a look at four topics I randomly selected that I think would fit excellent in an advanced forum, and three that highlight why we should distinguish these topics from one another.

you can see how quickly some people get in over their heads, and an advanced section would allow them to browse through the advanced topics before making an ill-informed decision about their car. as of now, they have to sort through all information relevant to a topic just to find a little detail about it. not to mention the fact that instead of just telling them it's an advanced topic that requires much research we could point them to the advanced forum rules and refer them to more reading.
