The only thing that confuses me so far about the point system is the fact that you can not post ANY street videos, but can post all day long about totaling their Evo is some form (where the majority of them were caused by excessive speed. Edit to read: street racing), modifying a DD Evo in Cali with cams, turbo's, and such. If Im not mistaken, that is illegal in many states other than Cali to do many of those modifications. No points for that? And no I dont believe someone when they say they do these mods to a strictly "off road vehicle." Seriously, how many Evos are use for that purpose?

One thing I should of mentioned in my last post is if you have problems here, instead of saying how bad this place is, the more constructive thing would to give suggestions on how to make it better. I think everyone (including the staff) will respond better to constructive suggestions then taking insults.

In general I like this site. I really dont have any issues other than that fricken search engine that wont let you search multiple word together but only individually. Oh yeah, the member to member rating system too. I think it should have 2 numaric values instead of just 1. one number for the positive ratings and one number for the negative. I was bitten by that a lil while back because the guy still had 3 positive ratings but I didnt know he had several negative ones.

Promoting street racing can help kill others, but posting about a modification to an Evo doesn't. I understand your point about posting pictures of accidents but one can look at it in different ways. It could be looked at the end result of a specific action, like street racing. Driving schools use that sort of imagery for years to deter people from doing something stupid.

Rather than say it sucks...how about suggestions on making it better. We always love to hear suggestions. It can never be what it used to be. Everyone in every aspect of life always talked about the good old days. Things change, site size increases, and we have to work with what we have. So lets hear how to improve what we have

Mods are judged based on ability and fairness. Many of us are enthusiasts for evos and lancers, but not everyone has to be.

There is no way everyone will agree on where we draw the line some will always think we are too harsh while others think we are not being sensitive enough. In your case, name calling or threats are not allowed. Nothing good can come of it, and it tends to escalate until the thread is trashed. We cut it off early. Disagree all you like, but dont get personal and offensive.

To all the members on this forum. It's not a public forum. It once was.........but it's not anymore....and it's controlled by politics, money, and leverage.

I suggest someone starting a new evo forum.

But thats just me.
As SPT touched on, rules are a reality of any site. Any site that didnt have rules, is not a place that will ever have useful information especially as it grows. Imagine if we made an announcement that we would no be enforcing any rules anymore, it would be a mess. That said, your assumption of how it is controlled are inaccurate. It is controlled by those wanting to make it a fair place without useless posts, and fighting (not to be confused with debating). If you have suggestions on how to improve something, let us know

Those are good suggestions. I'll take note and see what I can do. In the future I would just start a new thread about any other suggestions you have in the Site Feedback section so we can see it clearly.

One last thing....the rules have always been there. The only newer thing (a year ago) is the infraction system. Before this, we had to reply on memory to track problem people which is an unfair way of doing things. This meant some where getting away with things while others were not. The infraction system ensures more even and fair treatment. Laos, not only does it apply to vendors, but vendors have a couple higher point infractions that do not apply to regular members. You will notice that a lot of the vendor to vendor fighting has dramatically calmed down over the last year as a result

Street racing is an interesting and sensitive topic. There are at least two problems with it not applicable to some other "illegal" activities. First, anything you post can be seen by the law, and people that have posted street racing stuff have been prosecuted, mainly for videos. Second is, we as a policy, do not endorse or approve of it in any way. So anything street racing is out. As for totaling car stories...it depends on how they are presented. If you say I was flying down the road at 125 and wrecked, its gone. If you simply say I totaled my car without any details that would link it to street racing, there is no reason to remove it. Now if we removed discussions on modifying your car, there would be no more site. Further more, its not illegal everywhere, and this is a national/international site. We don't break down laws by state

And if there is a rule you think needs refining, state your point. We change things about this site on a regular basis whenever there is room for improvement, usually from user suggestions

I understand it has always been a privately owned forum. But as time has passed the rules have been disected to such a degree that now a huge amount of threads are against the rules.

I have seen probably over a dozen internet car forums and i have never ever seen another one even remotely close to the nightmare that this forum has become.

I what way and cite examples. Go over to NASIOC...a comparable large site with a similar car base. Their rules are just as firm as ours.

I will say we have been admittedly firm on the rules since the infraction system went up, however that was in response to an increasingly large group of violators. I think since this, the site has really turned around and come back in line. We have constant useful discussions that less often get derrailed

They're very defensive it seems.

For those of you in nor cal and so cal check out norcalevo.net and socalevo.net.

I love SoCalEvo and would be there were it not blocked here at work. It's heads and shoulders above this forum just with a lot less people obviously. If you guys in other areas could model a local forum after either of those forums you'd be in good shape.

I don't have the time to research and cite examples.

For what this is worth, i guess i'm just saying that in a lot of ways this site as a whole........members and mods........needs to lighten up a little.

People should be able to speak their minds regardless of who or what it's referring to. and the fellow members shoudln't jump all over eachother just because they feel they want a reason to post and flex internet muscles (which is gay)

I guess i'm a hypocrate because i don't have a firm solution to what i'm complaining about. but i think most of the problems are pretty obviously seen thread by thread.

just my opinion

It sounds like what you are saying is a contradiction. You believe everyone should have the right to say what they want to say but other members shouldn't jump all over each other in order to flex their internet muscles which technically is not allowing them to say what they want. The fact is you can't have one without the other so there has to be a balance. No one is perfect and there will times when a mod may enforce a rule a little too harshly but that's life. We are all human.
