This may be not be possible, but what about a chat tab like facebook? If a member is logged into the site, they could be displayed and have an IM chat rather than PMs all the time. (The use could of course chose not to log into chat.) I think this could make the community stonger and more efficient, especially for buying and selling parts.

If I recall right, I think this site had it eons ago. Never was used.

 

Nor do I want it to be. But if I was reading a forum someone posted and wanted more info I could just IM them rather than posting more to the thread.

Hey guys it is not going to happen. It would be impossible to moderate real time conversations. We have enough on our plate handling reported posts in a timely manner . Thank for you the suggestion and comments.

IMs are used on VW Vortex and its just like PMs with a different name lol. The only advantage is if the other guy is online at the same time then you can get an answer right away, if they're not on it acts just like a PM. PM notifications pop up on the screen anyways so whats the difference, 5-10 seconds?
