Hmm...I don't know what mod would do that. I'm not aware of any such doings. I'm pretty sure my other units did it for the sake of the thread itself.

True, true, but ... well, read my last post.

In that case, on behalf of all newbies, I'd like to request either a sticky posted for the "Hi, I'm new, what should I do to my car" type thread, or ... gasp ... a merge of a few of the more helpful threads of that type (but please not another 'super hyper extra mega buku merge').

I'm not trying to flame the mods or anything, hell, I support you guys, just saying that sometimes I feel particular mods can get a swelled head sometimes. But like I said before, or what they call "gangsta-slang" It's all good! lol

Warning a person is a more severe punishment than just closing the thread. I didn't think actually warning the guy was warranted.

Sorry to rant, it just rubs me the wrong way when you have a new member posting and instead of being made welcome they get the equivalent to a kick in the teeth. I've seen it a couple of times now (please don't ask me to dig up the links). I guess I'd just like to see something more along the lines of "Hey, quit flaming the new guy ... and Mr. Newb, please edit your post into something more along the lines of proper English, or we will close this thread."
We normally close the thread and pm the user in these instances. Sometimes these threads just get dropped into the Newbie forum. But this particular question has been asked multiple times. So whether it was written properly or not, it was not going to last too long in the General forum.

I think Kar33m said it best, "look it's Mark's pool and if you don't like the lifeguards get out" something along those lines.

Could you imagine 987,000+ posts (our approx post count last time I checked) all typed like Ali G? Aiiight!

I used to post this all the time, but let this be a little reminder. If you ever have a problem with the way something has been moderated (as opposed to moderation in general) feel free to contact the staff personally if you're seeking a quick and precise response. Additionally, please try to have links handy whenever possible. They make it very easy for staff members to bring threads/issues to other staff members' attentions, and to discuss them between us.

Remember, we are still members just like you guys. We use the forums for information and entertainment. We have a set of rules we're to follow and several thousand active users we're trying to appease, so try to keep in mind that we're doing what we see as good for the forum as a whole and that we cannot make everyone happy. Sometimes you will be one of the people made unhappy. Sorry to put it so bluntly, but that's the reality of it. And I certainly don't mean that to sound like a taunt.

Couple of important points I'd like to make for everyone to read:

1. The forum rules are in place to keep things constructive and as on-topic as possible.

2. I haven't found any cases where any of the current mods single out a person. The locked or deleted threads are because of the violation of a rule, flame war, etc.

Think of this as speeding on public roads. We may not like speed limits, but they need to be in place to prevent those from placing others in harms way. If repeatedly speed and get caught then you'll find a lot of points on your record. After you accumulate enough points you may lose your license for a set timeframe. If you excessively speed you may lose your license that very day. The one beauty of the web is that you won't be discriminated against for race, age, etc. You can post as professionally or immaturely as you like.

3. I will admit that we do not catch every violation within the site. With all the activity and posts that come in it can become very difficult not to miss something. Many of the members of this site help us a lot by reporting posts and invalid registry entries. If you see something that you feel doesn't belong on here you can always report the topic to a moderator of that forum or myself. If we see an issue with the thread we will take care of it.

5. If anyone feels something needs improvment, please notify me and maybe we can work together to improve things. For example, many of the duplicate questions and mergers can be avoided through the use of FAQs. I'd love to have someone handle that item for the site in exchange for some goodies, special status, or something along those lines.

6. Like Hobie said, we are members like everyone else. I just recently searched this site a lot to find out about wheels, tires, and suspension to help in my upgrade decisions.

That all said, we all want everyone to enjoy the site and get the info they were looking for

Mark

I don't know why this was even brought back nearly almost a month just to say:
