A year ago I joined this site and got a lot of info out of it. Now it is reduced to flames and tuner warefare. Quickly becoming irrelevant... On the plus side membership on socalevo.net is up sharply!

Hope things improve- I go over here less and less.

i dont see the point of this thread, we all realize that the flaming and bickering is going on. this kidn of thread has been reposted several times too. these kind of threads jsut add to teh fire when they dont add anything that would help, its jsut meant to vocalize what you dislike. id encourage you to next time jsut pm a mod or KK or something. the mods will take care of it, just give them time. overall this site still has way mroe positivies than negatives.

 

While I agree the bashing/flaming is over the top, it is also very easy to weed through - I guess it's a bit like TV, it's very easy to skim past the cr@p to find a good program.

 

I agree. The last couple of days have been way over the top and we are working on getting some of the major contributors off the site for a "rest". We discuss modding actions to ensure they are fair and appropriate, so it takes a little time.

The mods need your support. Peer pressure works much better than a moderator action. Nothing will stop this crap faster than 4 or 5 very polite responses from members advising the poster that we are not interested in trashing, bashing, or flaming.

The mods have been discussing the last couple of days at length with KK and we are communicating via PM's with the members involved. Thanks.

The point of this thread should be to give support to the moderators taking further steps from stopping this site degenerating any further.

What was once a useful source of information now takes too long to sift out the crap that continues to be posted. The UK Lancer Register site provides more mature and informative data.

 

Well, this is the feedback section....

It seems we've stepped back in time again to the last overhaul where things were really bad. The moderators/admin did a good job then of cleaning the place up and the site got back on track for a while. This really is a good website with tons of useful info but it does get annoying when you see the same people doing the same thing over and over and disrupting the board. Yeah, I'm not entirely innocent either but I tend to react rather than instigate. I do think, though, that the vendors should get more protection than the regular users as this board would not exist without their financial contributions.

 

call me what you want...but this whole site is funny as hell...flaming and all together...just take people for what they're worth and relax.

Nothing personal GT40, but if membership is up sharply, why was there only 8 people total online there just now when I checked? Let's not get carried away, Evom is still the 800lb gorrilla of the Lancer Evolution's internet forums. Others serve their purpose though.

Evom is like a beach: sometimes a big wave hits when you don't expect it. Sometimes you catch it and surf it to the shore, and sometimes it crashes right on top of your head. I've felt both and still enjoy the site. I laugh at loud every day I'm on this site, I call my friends and discuss what is going on on the boards, and I've learned tons of stuff on this site: installing head studs, checking out drag racing times from all over the country, yada, yada, yada. Everything! It really is a great site.

What is wrong with a lil debate and trash talk now and then. At times it is fun to check people that contradict themselves on a consistent basis. Like I suggested before lets evolve and put in a Jerry Springer(War zone,smack down,trash talk etc) section. If flames occur move it there until it dies down and return it after the flames have died. If you don't want to tune in to that forum don't. If you have a beef with a tuner or vender start it in the appropriate forum then move it when it heats up. I am very guilty at times of ill advised bashing but I am doing it to help newbes see the contradictions and inconsistencies. I do not want anymore Sheep i mean Evo owners waste their money to go marginally faster and sometimes slower.My 2 cents.

 

The only problem is that some people tend to bring their attacking style of posting into every thread. People that want information are eventually forced to deal with the flaming and whatnot.

 

Im inclinded to agree with GT40, and as I said last time when we had this issue ban anyone selling anything on the site from posting anything but informative responses about their products, what they have in stock and events relating to themselves.

Clearly that leaves them in a rather exposed position for the few customers who will undoubtedly be pissed about something, so Instead of 48 threads about how one guy got hosed by one tuner people should be forced to use the seller rating system, if you have to lodge your complaint there; this will eliminate people trashing a vendor 86 times in different threads and then pissing off the tuners lackies who will come to defend them and flame, this will stop the propigation of these threads .
