the nice thing about a stand alone you can set it such that no one could possibly start the car without knowing what tricks you install. for example, you can hide a toggle switch which runs power to the ECU under your dash. flip the switch ecu can get power, flip it off, it will never run. also, electromotive TEC-3 has valet mode where you can set the rev limit to 1000 rpm. haha! also i think it has modes where it wont start up without the PC plugged in and a password entered.

As bad as the situation was, consider yourself lucky. From your description of what was stolen/broken, doesn't sound like pros. I used to live in NJ, and went to work and sleep knowing my car might not be there when I came out. Texas though, strange. Might have been a coincidence with the clutch, might have been your loud exhaust attracting the wrong attention, who knows. won't be leaving your keys or valuables in plain sight anymore, huh?

all in all everything turned better then it could have, the cover for the ac controls and deck was broken, the driver side window was broken, and they cut a big *** hole in the driverside door panel trying to get the door speakers out but i guess when they realized i had stock speakers they gave up on that idea.

so if any one has ac cover and knobs and a driverside door panel they want to sell, shoot me a pm

dumbass is right............j/p actually stealing an evo is easy, the bottom panel can easily be ripped off, and the harness is right there. cut, strip and clickity click, car turns on.

i've installed dozens of alarms in EVO's and the best bet is to really hide/tape up every single freaking wire harness. even if a pro, got to it, theres so much tape and re-routing they'll get pissed and say "F@#$ it".

That sucks Michael. At least you got your car back.

As for the comment about the chip in the key...I have information from a reliable source that that is incorrect. I was told that with unscrewing two screws, he has started his evo without a key in the car. I think it's all a scam.
