Tires? Or wheels AND tires?

I'm close to the 10K mark, and we all know that means Advans are wearing out fast. I could stick with my stock wheels and just put on some new rubber. Or, I could use this opportunity to get a wheel/tire combo and finally put some black wheels on my silver Evo.

Any suggestions on local places? Or is online going to be the best bet?

I'll probably stick with 17's and stock sized tires since my car is stock ride height. Might look into 18's with a slightly lower profile tire, I just don't want it to look like an off road machine without being lowered.

Anyway, early planning, but figured I'd get some thoughts.

It just depends on what kind of wheels you want. I have some advan rgII on order, and it could be up to 3 months before they get here. I really don't mind the wait though, as I am riding on volk gtu's right now.

These are good for the money...
I am selling them if you are interested.

I just got another wheel and tire combo in order to accomodate wider tires.

Hey, those are pretty cool. How many miles are on the tires?

Shoot me a pm.

I just installed new wheels and tires after 8 months of research. We really should start by identifying your budget bro...

If you are going to go black I would go with a super light weight wheel. I am running the Motegi LC5 track lights. They weigh in at 15lb a wheel. They also make another thinner 5 spoke. The other nice thing about the wheel is they are coated with teflon. I have had them on the car for awhile now and they have no chips at all. There is a picture of them on the SRT-4 on this thread. I picked them up for $680 with shipping from Rims1.com.

My rims have less then 10k miles on them. I bought them in October and had to replace my tires in may. They weigh around 17lbs and Black Racing is a japanese sister company to 5zigen.

This Motegis look nice, but do they make them for the Evo?

I dig those Montegis.

My budget, as always, is as inexpensive as I can do it, if I do it at all. I am in the process of starting my own business which will take a few bucks, so that alone may keep me from getting other than tires. But, if I could get into a set of black wheels AND tires for, say, $800-$900 (or anything below) I might consider it.

Of course, if any locals want to buy some wine from me, I'm selling some parts of my collection that I overpurchased, that would help out a bit.

Also, I know the stock Evo wheels aren't exactly "STOCK", but will aftermarket wheels make my car an even bigger target for theft? I've GOT to get an alarm this summer.

Better get LoJack bro...the Evo is currently the 2nd most stolen car in the country.

Nearly no chance of finding new wheels and tires for under $900 (ones that are worth having on your car). Maybe used, but still little change of that (unless you use your throwing stars). Unless you come into some extra cash, you may just want to pick up some Kumho MX's or Falken 615's. If you want a killer Advan replacement, go for the BFG KD.

Are you crazy? Cars don't get stolen in Dallas. ;-)

I need to get a Buick or something as a daily driver. I sleep better at night knowing the Evo is in the garage.

I had some BFG G-Force KDW's and they were great, just a lot of road noise.

The KD is closer to the Advan than the KDW. If you want dry handling in a street compound, the KD has been close to the top of the food chain for some time.

BTW, LoJack is much cheaper and cooler than a Buick

FYI, there are better and cheapr options than anything BFG has right now. Namely, the Hankook RS-212 and Falken Azenis.
