So let me get this straight, so from now on, if someone from NTEC (North Texas Evo Club) wanted to post an event or drive, we would have to post it in this 24 page thread? If so, you got to be kidding me. This thread could easily turn into 100+ pages. WOW absolutely WOW!

I quickly looked at the Southeast Region Forum and they have a thread thats 1001 pages long! Thats ridiculous.

actually, you can go to the user CP and turn off noob view. Then you can have 40 or 100 posts per page. This turns it into a 3 page thread.

I don't see what the issues are... every other region does it, for years mind you, and doesn't complain.

I think you guys are misunderstanding our intentions.......

We do not intend to run y'all out of town, and we do not intend to silence anybody. We simply wanted to clean up some of the Regionals with duplicate threads about the same thing. As I've told some of your members in PM's tonight, we don't have a problem with a few threads by your group, we just don't want to see this particular Region overrun by 1 club. That is not fair to the others that use this forum, and it makes navigating a nightmare. I personally would suggest that you keep the majority of the conversations in this thread and post new ones for very specific purposes such as meets, etc. I think if we all use good judgment here everybody can get along just fine.

we need sub regions for the south....TEXAS is a huge state and so the ppl in say Houston have nothing to do with whats going on in the DFW area. it we could split up the south forum in sub forums it would help everyone out...

i think if you had read the topics of the threads that got merged, they were all very different.

heres the threads you merged:

1) north texas evo people bios
2) NTEC organization information
3)a few different events
4) NTEC logo/sticker information

i would agree that the logo/sticker threads belonged together. had we had a moderator who actually read any of the threads and followed them, they could have easily been merged (and no one would complain). and if the south region were so busy that other people don't have room to post, i could see merging the NTEC organizational info with the logo/sticker info.

and how would NTEC overrun the south region? i mean we make nearly 3/4 of the posts to begin with, so are we only allowed to make 10% of the posts so that the corpus cristi evo club can get their 10% as well? (no offense to the CC evos, just using you as an example).

if you follow other forums at all, many if not most have a section for Texas only in the regional breakdowns.

i guess i'm totally missing the point of "cleaning up the regionals"? were they messy? if one region has 200 evos, and other has 5, wouldn't you expect the vast majority of the traffic to come from the 200 evos?
no rules were broken with these posts. with the exception of the logo/sticker, nothing was a repost

also, stickys are given to other regions on evom for event calenders, yet robertK basically told me to shove it in my question on adding a north texas evom user as a moderator to moderate our own threads

this is a one big messy thread. lol.

if you want since we have a domain name i could give some space for free on my server where we could put in a forums. then later on maybe add some features.

i am suggesting this since it would be very hard to find/ keep track of events, meets, etc if all of it would be in 1 thread.

this is just a suggestion.

Oh come on!! Go try to read this thread and figure out what was going on!!!

This is ridiculous. We have asked for a sub forum, because we do dominate the south forum. There are a lot of evos here in North Texas, and we are an active group. We were denied the sub forum, so we continue to use the south forum. Things have been fine, FOR YEARS mind you, I havent seen a thread with anything negative about NTEC, or people having problems with our posts on the south forum....unless you are getting PMs about it ( Which I am guessing is not happening).. I dont see why you have to come over here and mess with everything.

evoM management needs some serious changes, and adjustments in the policies. Out of the blue you are enforcing the links in signature rule, which i might add is nothing more than removing the WWW. and the .COM, but select people dont have any problems and can have has many links as they want (and Im not talking about vendors), maybe I should start sending a PM every time I see something not being enforced, and lately there have been this big push to move delete and screw up threads all over the place, this one included, when threads that should be moved ( ex: the one in the south for-sale section about a blown up engine) and have post that read " Mods please move to XYZ thread" sit for weeks, maybe even months now unmoved, but you sure can find time to Merge and Screw up threads that are moving along just fine, like the ones you merged into this one!

Im sure Im getting an infraction or kicked off for a day whatever... and I dont mean to attack you mods, but come on... things are getting out of hand. I spend about 6 hours on this site a day (I have a lot of down time at work) and this type of thing is really getting to me.... until people complain, can you just leave things alone..... what does it take to get a NTEC sub forum which we can MOD our selves? Money???

Did we forget what makes this site.... OH YEAH ITS THE USERS!!!!!

I wonder how many page views ntec makes up in the scheme of things? Likely not a massive amount outside of the south forum if I had to guess. I have been wrong before.

Not everyone is aware of the history of what happened here a year or so ago. But there are still quite a few people that will never come back to evom because of what happened.

Considering that evom is largely funded by the (rather high) sponsorship fees that vendors pay, it seems like quite a poor business decision to run off groups of members. Even though you claim that that is not what you were trying to do, by telling us to put our stuff on our own server you are effectively driving traffic away from evom.

There have been a number of sponsors/vendors already leaving evom since the takeover. Some of that is due to lower budgets. Some of it is due to other reasons. Again it seems to me that attracting and keeping paying vendors by having a healthy and active community should be priority number one.

Please don't force us to take our ball and go play elsewhere. It will hurt NTEC and EvoM (although it would be nice to have our own sandbox to play in).

I did read them all, don't know why you think I didn't.

You need to knock off the Mod bashing. I deleted a post of your today for that....it was a freebie.

I think you just answered your own question there....if you make 3/4 of the posts, then by definition you have overrun the region.
Also, I never had an issue with the posts, it was the page full of NTEC threads that I objected to. We have no quotas.

Sorry, I am too busy Administrating a site with almost 100,000 members to go see what other sites are doing. In any event, we don't moderate based upon what others are doing.

Yes, it was quite messy or I would not have had to take action. Who said anything about rules being broken? Nobody got points for anything, and I don't believe we need a popular consensus to Moderate our own privately owned website.

No, I told you that it was not going to happen in the thread in Site Feedback. I see no reason why you would need a Moderator just for your own section, esp since you're not getting a section. As I've said all throughout this, you are all welcome here, but we do require that members respect our rules. Just because we don't agree to your requests does not mean we don't want y'all here. This site is ours to run, with feedback from our members. We will not always agree with you, but we do appreciate the feedback.

Now, the choice is up to all of you. We are not going to make a sub-forum for your club, we are not going to appoint one of you as a Moderator for this section. We WILL welcome you to stick around and post in accordance with our forum rules and guidelines. If not, well, you guys can feel free to make a forum on your own website. Thanks.

I would have no idea. Not sure how that is relevant, but we have thousands of unique viewers a day and I have no way of checking how many of them are new members of your club

I have no idea, but if people are holding a grudge, so be it.

Nobody is running anybody off....we're just not caving into demands that we do not see a compelling reason for. We were offering a solution for your posting problem...if it takes traffic away but makes the most sense for your club, so be it.

I'm glad you have such a grasp of our business model, but you're quite mistaken. We have a waiting list of people waiting to become Vendors here, and the support of IB means that we can pick and choose with whom we want to do business with. We do not need to accept every new Vendor just to stay afloat. We would rather screen the Vendors and make sure they offer a good product and fit with our community than accept everybody who will pay. Short of it is, we don't need the money, we can be choosy.

Once again, as I've stated dozens of times....we're not forcing anybody to do anything other than respect our rules and guidelines. We hold everybody to the same standard, and welcome all who agree to that and want to be a part of our community.
