It was another 1st gen DSM with some idiot driving. He left skidmarks that were three or four storefronts long and hit and then spun me around 270 degrees. I was actually pinned to the center console. I had to squirm out and even take the leg off to to get out of the car.
I got a ticket for failure to yield, he did not get a ticket for speeding.
A couple of months later in court I saw the guy on the phone talking to a friend and he couldn't recall which accident he was in court for. Then he claimed he didn't speak english and asked for a translator. When I explained to the judge that I couldn't see this gentleman's car because he was going too fast for that area, he said it didn't matter how fast the other guy was going, it was 100% my fault. Then he went on to insult my driving record because of all my speeding tickets.
To this I replied "If you'll notice my record has been clean for over 6 years. No tickets in six years! All those tickets were in my youth. And all those tickets were for speeding, which as you pointed out right now, according to you, do not contribute to traffic accidents." Everybody in the courtroom chuckled and some of the bailiffs even laughed before he gave them all dirty looks. I got traffic school and no points... At least I'm alive.
The car did get fixed and I did have it for a while longer but the door was never the same. It never did shut right after that.
It was a very agile car though and I wonder how well it would have performed at AutoX.
