Lemme enlighten you to some things.. My Father has owned an import repair shop for the past 25 years.. His partner/head tech is probably the most knowledgeable guy I've ever met in my life.. Technically other than the OEM filters which have check valves in them, you can put any oil in your cars.. As long as you routinely change your oil every 3000... You can indeed put regular oil in your EVO's as well.. And there won't be any problems.. But since you've used it since day one, it's not wise to switch it out now.. Just like if you've used regular oil in your car since day one, then switch to synthetic.. Not good.. Oil leak heaven.. But believe it or not, for higher milage vehicles, even performance cars, it's not uncommon to use regular oil for it's thicker consistancy.. So it's all about the advertisements and crap technically.. Don't matter what oil you put in your car, just as long as you change it..

You have to be careful of oil weight however. That is one easy way to kill the 4g63 oil pump.
