If I remember correctly Jason had the Exedy on his VIII and then later had the ACT and hated it.

As far as I know the ACT's are cheaper because they don't come with a flywheel. The Exedy units do and they are Chromoly. And if you are looking to put some decent power to the ground I recommend the Exedy twin plate ceremetallic with the heavy duty pressure plate. Jason, Matt and I all have that setup and it holds great.

^+1. rob, definately go with the exedy twin HD. nolimitmotorsports has the best deal on them that i know of. i've sent them alot of customers with their greats prices and shipping. just to give you an example of the difference, i went from a best 1.69 60ft on the stock clutch to a best of 1.61 60ft w/the exedy twin hd. not once has it slipped on any of my launch's. only thing i noticed is that the exedy HD needs some clutch peddle adjustment after installation. no big deal though. thats just a wrench adjustment behind the clutch peddle. it hold so good that i spin all 4 off the line, even with 23psi in the tires. if anything, i need a tranny upgrade now since i don't have the heavier duty 1st gear like the new 9's have. fckrs

i too have had both. the ACT didn't hold to well for me once i got the engine and turbo done. all it would do was slip in the low end where the torque was over 400 and in the higher range also. the only place it would hold was between 4500-5500rpms. now the exedy twin HD is the ****!!

now it does chatter alot and sucks for heavy traffic driving, but makes up for it, when you need to get on it. my torwue hits like a bat out of hell at 3400 rpms. goes over 400ft-lbs on BR's dyno extremely quick, and this clutch holds great. now i just need to get to the track and test it out to see how i can do.l

i dont think their is any doubt as to which clutch you should pick up lol..... pretty much cpd experienced the same thing i did when i had to swap my exedy out for the act...... check nolimit's prices but also shoot a PM to mattgold , he is from *** imports which is where i got mine from and was the cheapest at that time.... tell him you are military and you talked to me and see what price he can give you as well and go with whichever is cheaper. i got mine for 14 shipped which wasnt a bad price then, i havent checked prices in awhile.

The vendor forum has ads all the time about "Lowest Price Ever on Exedy". PM a few of the those guys and see who gives you the best deal. Just make sure you specify the twin-hd. And STAY away from the carbon clutch.

yeah ill just keep it safe and go with the exedy then, and as far as the front bumper, i said screw it and im just gonna go with a new stocker and a carbon lip. should look good with the jdm rear. the exedy is 1700 shipped. the cheapest i saw was 1600 shipped at machv motorsports. just waiting on the check now and ready to hit that order button.

and how long you think it takes to install the clutch. im thinkin of letting hh do the mani and o2 housing, and possibly the clutch since they have the room and tools.. i would love to do my own work but i just dont have the tools and space to do it. (lucky people with garages). i do have a garage but its full of her ****............lol

anyways i prolly not doing much this weekend since i dont really wanna spend too much dough so i can ball out in atlanta when i go for thanksgiving. im up for a track meet or drink

hey man... dont just take the websites word for it... you have to call them, ask them what the best price they can give you is.... give chris at no limit a call, give matt at *** imports a call and see what they can do...... they have the best prices and can beat 1700... also, i will email my sponsor guy and see what he can do as well. As far as the clutch, should take them about a day to do the install, or less with those guys, they have done a few i would imagine... the mani and 02 shouldnt be too difficult, should take a few hours... you just want to order new gaskets from mitsu or lancershop... dont use any of the cheap paper ones that come with those pieces if they come with them. i think your front bumper decision is smart as well... especially since you have your mind set on paint the side skirts...should look good
