MIVEC head swap

Im a newbie to the EVO, and Im looking for information on putting a MIVEC head on an EVO VIII. Has this swap been done before? Is it worth it? How difficult of a task would it be? Wasn't sure about oil ports, or any other lines or sensors that would come into play with that kind of change. Any helpful information or advice from you professionals will be greatly appreciated.

its been done, but its quite extensive. You need wire harness and ecu from 9 plus the complete head setup. there arent many 9 wire harnesses floating around. and that alone is 1200 from the dealer. I could supply all the parts you need for 1800 shipped. 12k on the parts

What kind of HP gains will I get with that compared to using that 1800 towards staged upgrades with the original engine? Im trying to find out the best route to take as far as upgrades.

The best thing about the MIVEC head is honestly the cooling ability. You can run more timing advance up top before you see knock.

Power gains from the MIVEC itself are minimal honestly. I've spent a ton of time tuning for MIVEC and the biggest benefit is increased overlap to aid spool up. Beyond that, a max of around 5 hp may be available across the band with extensive tuning of the MIVEC map.

You will see much more power if you use that $1800 elsewhere. Sorry ...

I would stay away from that swap and use it for some staged packages!

YOur gains will be significantly increased elsewhere...
