I used Shade Custom Tint. Good prices. Only does tinting and only uses Llumar. Nick, the owner, is a good guy.

Read my mind. It is what it is. Its been a year this month since I've driven it (not counting getting it back a few months ago for a week........long enough to get my tag done from the previous year with drivability not tuned yet).

Missing all the cool car stuff to do as usual. Been the story of my life. Been checking out IS-F's. Seriously considering getting one and selling the evo. What good is a car that you never drive? I'm no longer attached to it now. Only good thing is I don't have a note for it. BUT. I'm paying full insurance and tag/registration for an inanimate object.

Anyway. Enough of my *****ing. Carry on (without me, LOL).

I feel for you, man. That would frustrate the living hell out of me. I mean, is your Evo the singularly hardest Evo to work on in the country? Who keeps an Evo for a YEAR and it's still not ready?

I have to give you props...most people would have very publicly dragged the shop through the mud at this point (which you would be justified), but you've taken the high road. I hope they're giving you a hell of a discount...

A year. That's inexcusable...

They covered the motor on their dime. They didn't have to. They could've blamed it on the machine shop and said we'll "help" me on the bill. I would've accepted that being it had been a year since they had built the motor (To be fair I had been complaining about this oil issue from the week I got the car back). So that bought a lot of patience from me in the patience department.

There have been some other aspects of this journey that I'm keeping to myself for now simply because I don't want to be a cliche and bad mouth a shop. I know that there is perception vs reality and somewhere in there is truth. I will say I dont think their intention was for this to take this long. Bad mouthing them will only **** them off which will in turn **** me off and I still have a car that needs to be fixed. I know how I feel when I'm helping someone with their issue at work and they haul off and complain to my manager over a perceived problem without coming to me to voice their concern/aggravation.

I kinda let the front end manager know my frustration earlier this week. There is a snag right now that makes me getting my car back kinda open ended. When I say I have no idea when I'm getting my car back thats the gods honest truth. They don't know when they can turn around an issue they had. I'm trying to remain understanding about the situation because anger isn't going to get the car fixed any faster. I've accepted that this is going to take as long as its going to take.

The no ETA thing really is hard to not be annoyed at. What has made this a little more annoying is I have had another vehicle to drive this whole time but now it needs some repairs that aren't going to be an overnight thing. I have a motorcycle to ride but when it rains (as it looks like its going to do next week) then I have to car pool with my wife. Her hours have changed at work and thats not doable.

Front end manager offered me a beater to drive. I declined. I hate driving other peoples vehicles. I don't want to get into a wreck even if its not my fault. It just makes me think about how long this ordeal has taken and the frustration starts to set in.

Honestly I'm not even mad. I'm just tired. Tired of everything. When I lived in GA it was the same thing. And I dealt with a shop where the owner and I were friends. But $#!t happens. And I get it. It just seems that (with the exception of them covering the motor rebuild) I'm the one that is always waiting.

The only reason I haven't made plans to sell the car honestly is because my son is going to be in College in 2 years and I dont want a note, but I gotta tell you my wife is onboard with me selling it and one of her cars to offset the cost of buying either a Lexus IS-F or Ford Focus RS when it comes out. She hates my car and everything that has happened. Both with this one and the blue. Same $#!t all over again. I am no longer defending it. I can't. Facts are facts.

Sorry for the dissertation guys. This is a bit cathartic.

Yeah but 1) need to see it in person. 2) need to drive it. 3) most first runs have issues so it would make sense to wait until the second generation or at least the second year

Well, at least they've had Europe to work out the bugs on the initial versions...

Sounds like you and I are in similar life situations. I have a son who's going to be 17 in a few days, and another who is 14. I can definitely understand the car note thing...

I hope everything works out for you at the end of all of this. You've been more than patient. When a source of pleasure becomes a source of pain, what's left?

I have a challenge of my own as well. I had back surgery a few years ago, and now my left knee is going to hell. Some days I can barely walk. I haven't had an MRI yet, but several x-rays and examinations point to osteo-arthritis, bone spurs, a torn meniscus, and inevitable replacement surgery. I'm guessing a 5-speed will be "contra-indicated" at that point, and I'll have to find a paddle-shift replacement for the only car I've ever "loved".

As far as a catharsis, sometimes we all need one, right?

All those injuries......former military? Man I feel for you and yeah kids going to college.....puts things in perspective. The Focus RS thats coming out is a new model for eery region including its home in Europe. Its using the same motor out of the 4 cylinder Mustang so its no slouch but still everything right down to the AWD is supposed to be new.

We'll see.
