ALABAMA.. who is all here?
That is in 5 weeks. I was pulled over on 59 goin 65 in a 70 while being tailgated and bright lighted by the truck behind me. The cop had to literally squeeze in between us to pull me over. Then made me blow into a breathalyzer when I had not had a drop to drink and gave him no reason to think so. But hey **** happens lol.
Sorry to hear you guys have a lot of trouble with cops. Most would prob. be on the interstate with troopers cause thats where my luck runs out. Anyway, so what kind of events go on in the Birmingham area? I knew they had a thing at the dog track off John Rogers but have never really been. Steele seems to have things go on Friday nights late but other than that im clueless. Wih my new found free time and Friday nights off, I would like to see whats out here
Yeah, the SCCA events are on Sundays. I was supposed to go but got lazy. Honestly, I would stay away from Steele. The management is horrible. Depending on where you live MMP (Montgomery Motorsports Park) may be just as close. Like was stated before you can join Alabamaracingscene.net and find out about various events going on or just weekly hangouts or whatnot.

ya steele management really does suck.. they do try a little.. just not enough..(friday nights, moonlight madness rom 9-1am, track wont even open till 1030 or 11.. its sad, and they take forever to cleanup everything)
saturdays, honestly you only have 2 options, bama dragways, or street races (cough)
and sunday there are normally some car shows to go to, also scca events once a month.

Yea. I have heard from some friends that Steele is ok when they let you go on the track. They said the actual track is ok but let off at the end because the track runs out fast and they never clean the end. Havent heard anything on how the other one is. I saw there was an event yesterday? Did it get rained out?
I was in my Eclipse on 65 the other day coming home from work. I was doing about 70 along with everybody else, but I was ahead of the pack and a bit out in the open. An interceptor comes weaving around the traffic behind me and I let the car coast down to 60. He paces me for a second hovering off my right quarter then blasts me with his Ka radar gun making my V1 just about jump off the windshield, then he sped up and got off on Green Springs. I guess he just wanted to say high and let me know his disdain for radar detectors.

Well, at least go by Speedsouth and see what you think of them. I've had a few things done there and the work turned out good, but other then that I would say check them out on your own to see what you think. I don't want to sway you either way as I have mixed feelings about them.
There are other shops around here that can do just as much for us as speedsouth can. They may have a dyno, but it's not like they can put us on it.
like I said earlier, I'm either taking mine to FTP or walker. I think walker is primarily a fabricator, but he knows his way around a 4g.
but hell man, if you're just doing bolton stuff, you're more than welcome to bring it (and some beers) over to my house and wrench on it in my garage. I ain't skeered to get dirty, and do most of the work on my car.

Only thing done to my car right now is a turboback exhaust. Not to sure where I want to go with it. I have had the car for a while now. 03 and only 58000 miles on it lol. Just had a new clutch, flywheel, and all timing done. Anyone use the AMS staged upgrade path? Like the parts and a ton of people run them in GA.
So FTP will work on imports? I thought they were into F-bodies only. Walker is a good guy and very skilled. He also has a mean Evo.

honestly, most mechanical work can be done at any shop, they all charge about the same hourly, and i would preferr a mechanic installing parts for me other then just some kid that likes his hondas(ie, autolabz).. and last time i checked, most mechanics i have worked with all have, or had, there own race cars they have been working on for a long time. i like my express oil change mechanics!

correction, caveman and autolabz were the same company, just a new name. same owner, and unless they moved somewhere else they have been closed for a while.. redline is also closed(use to be in bessemer).. and speedsouth and apr i think are the only two shops that mainly do aftermarket stuff, but i think apr is mainly VW stuff.
there is a shop in tuscaloosa, but i cant remember what its called now, its like the performance shop or something like that. but ive been told there arent any real mechanics there, but that might not be true..

Coldasice- depending on what you want done there are plenty of people around here that are willing to help out. But if you'd rather have a shop work on it that's understandable. FTP specializes in F bodies, but TJ will work on anything. As stated Walker Morgan mainly does fab work, but he knows his 4g63's. I myself have had 6 I think. I'm a mechanic by force not option lol.
And I've never owned a radar detector, but I do believe it's time to invest in one.
