Hey guys,
I am in the market for a Evo/STi and am having a real hard time getting a test drive. I went to 2 different dealers and they are basically trying to get me to commit before driving the thing. I went the Crown and Lokey. I went to Mastro Subaru and drove the STi without anyproblems, and I loved it. But I can't buy one without trying the other. So, did you guys just buy it and hope it was everything it was supposed to be or what? These Mitsu dealers suck I laughed at the dude at Crown when he said the Evo only weighs 2800lbs like my S2000. And of course he was like it's a lot faster too.
I was like yeah I know but I am keeping the S and buying something to go with it with more practicality. Anyways, I am done complaining I hope to find a drive somewhere.

I test drove one in Brandon, but I bought at Firkins in Bradenton. I am friends with the Service Director if any problems shall arise due to mods. Do you want white? They had a white one in stock when I was there last week.
I purchased mine at Lokey last year and got a good deal. Their first Evo sale was to me. I paid $28,800 (sun roof and CF wing).
Here in Oklahoma, a friend bought one last month for $28k (no sunroof, but upgraded shift knob, pedals and door sills).
Those guys didn't want to let me drive the Evo either. I had to have a serious talk with the manager before he would let me test drive it. I told him, that I don't buy cars with out driving them first. He let me drive it and I bought it. Who da thunk that...
I'll see if I can talk with the guy who sold me my Evo.

I paid $31,000 with spoiler, sunroof. But that also included all of these factory parts installed , 6 disc cd changer, brake cooling guides, door sill scuff plates,Strut tower brace front and rear,Hyperground cables,Instrument cluster surround, wheel locks, and the Simoniz outside and inside treatment.
Got my Evo VIII at Suncoast Mitsi (way NW on 19; by Wiki Watchi). They had like 8 of them and I got the last black one ($28,400). Real nice people and very eager to get rid of the last 7. Can't vouch for their service dept. but the rest was very painless. Had no issues getting a test drive and I got to take the drive alone (without any sales chatter). All in all a pretty good experience.
BTW, I'm in North Tampa (New Tampa).

I live in clearwater / dunedin area and drive a silver EVO VIII... It's currently in the shop (lokey) getting the block replaced (blown engine with 2 oil changes at 11,000 miles).. Looking for fellow evo owners that enjoy getting together and grabbing a

what caused the engine to blow?????
they don't know yet... they claim the wrong oil was put in and the oil filter is too small... according to them that's what caused the misfire... they are finally pulling the block apart today and hopefully they will have a better idea on what caused it. Personally I think the rod bolts are too small for the horsepower generated and the rod is not holding together and causing vibration in the bearings, and that's what is taking out the bearings... they say that the 1st and 2nd rod bearing are totally sheared... Hopefully I'll have pics today.

Whaddya think? Sorry for the night pics...
