If you remove your intake the light should go away. The Fujita design at least for the first and second version for our lancer is flawed. It sometimes briefly strays beyond the MAF sensor threshold parameters and triggers a soft (pending) code. In a nutshell the airflow gets disrupted now and then and doesnt hit the MAF sensor right. The ECU sees this and makes a note of it with soft code. Soft codes can disapear and re appear. Its just a little never racking when you see them.

In theory, you should be fine, so long as your getting the performance gain.

If you need assistance in terms of diagnosing the code. We the car club offer ScanTool Services, pricing hasnt been finalized yet but basically if you make it to the meet, its 15 bucks, but you will A) get all the codes pulled for your car and the freeze frame of them as well. you can view that info and make an informed decision on how you would like to proceed. B) you can clear the code when your done.

You can also rent the scantool by the hour if you wish to do longer field testing. ScanTool is completely unlocked and will show everything within the Mitsubishi ECU, the list is huge well over 100 sensors. EVO X or Lancer , or older lancers, its all unlocked So we can take the car on the road, hunt for that trouble some code, record and chart out your fuel trims/ o2 readings, RPM speeds, throttle position, transmission operations... everything.

Hope that helps. Come down to our next meet or PM me if you want to meet up

I just want to give you an update - I did not get the service engine light problem after installing the SRI - which is awesome.

I was holding my breath as the mechanic starts the car..It got me really worried that he didn't disconnect the negative terminal on the battery before pulling out the mass sensor.

overall it went well.

Thanks for everything - lookin' forward to the meet!

from what i hear about Fujita intakes is the soft code is triggered over time. and can come and go on its own. Good luck, maybe it might be just fine

even if it doesnt it doesnt mean a serious problem, its just an issue with the way the air hits the sensor, if its off by a little one or two times it will hit the soft code threshold.

and it will go away by itself as soon as the air continuously hits the sensor again? so nothing to worry about when all of a sudden the CEL flashes on?
