New brake pads @ 25,000 km @ $1200? I know you drive an evo but that doesnt sound right unless you do alot of starting / stoping etc.

Remeber Stealerships only suggest things to be done, doesnt mean you have to get them done right away. Have them looked at but a different dealership / mechanic.

Get them checked at an independent shop for life. If you need to replace them get some Ferrodo DS2500, shouldnt cost you much and change them yourself (really easy) or get an independent shop to change them for you. Shouldn't affect your warranty. Should be able to get it done on all 4, for about 500-600 tops.

$1,200 is utterly freaking ridiculous! I bought brake pads for $180. How in the hell does the dealer get to $1,200?!?!?

Are your brake pads even done? Or did somebody just tell you to change them?

crester .. mitsu was telling me i didint have much left.. gonna go get em checked elsewhere tomorrow

and yea the price shocked me.. brembo is premium and im sure mitsu likes to mark up their products nice and juicy ... $1,200 includes all four and labour, but i still find it pricey!

if this shop tells me opposite of what mistu told me i will hafta drop mistu entirely and just start using indi shops. i am sick of dealerships ripping us off !

This is funny... I just called the dealership... and asked... "You guys are quoting $1200 to change brake pads???". He thought I was Rizla's Dad... and started umming and ahhing to try and justify the price.

Basically here's the break down... Scarborough Mitsu is saying $470 for front pads, $470 for rear pads and $150 for labour.... plus taxes.

Rizla... while you're in the States get some aftermarket brake pads. At most it'll cost you like $200 total for all four wheels. Then goto a dealer like Maple and get them dropped in. And there you go... brake pad change for less than $400.

MAPerformance (I think they are a vendor on here) has the front & rear Evo pads (Ferodo DS2500) for ~$300 shipped (might be a little more to Canada). Unless you're getting top-of-the-line front & rear brake pads, new rotors, upgrading your brake lines to SS and getting a fluid flush, you shouldn't be anywhere near $1200 for brakes!

Stop Tech Rear Performance Pads are 309.13680 = $77.51 at JRP

Wait 1 more week. Motor City Mitsubishi is offering DBA and Stop Tech Brake upgrades as a labour and parts bundle. So it will be even better than the prices.

Stock Evo pads are Ferodo.. so the DS2500s would technically be an upgrade..

my dealer said my pads had 30% front and rear at 25,000km..so once off i compared them to my stoptech sean hooked me up with xmas time. They may have been literally 4-5mm worn off compared brand new stop techs.

dealership trying to make money, bring them your old pads once you get new and tell them to go back to mechanic school.
