Got a KILLER E85 Tune !

As some of you know I got my Evo 8 tunned for E85 Ethanol yesterday. The tuner is Lucas English in Vancouver WA They turned my boost up to about 29 PSI and gave me fuel to air ratio's in the higher gears of around 15:1 That is crazy lean with allot of boost.

I went to test it at Renegade Drag race track in Yakima tonight in hopes of getting into the 12's and ran multiple 11 second 1/4 mile passes. The best was 11.87 sec. at 118.5 mph but it still means I have a freakin 11 second daily driver that has cold A/C and power steering etc..

The guys running the lights said I need to come back this weekend when they spray sticky stuff on the track as I was blowing the tires off bad all the way to red line coming off the line. I had to counter steer like crazy one run when the back end nearly hit the wall.

That tune was the best money I have ever spent.

The biggest and best mod the car needs now is driver improvements.

This car is almost like cheating auto-x here I come !

It has all the Buschur stage 4 mods but the cams are just 264/270 HKS cams

It also has a Exedy twin Disc Clutch

English took out my 680 cc injectors and had put in 1000 cc monsters

This was my first time ever drag racing, and I was spinning all 4 and sliding sideways off the line all the way through 1st. The guy running the tree said to come back on Friday when they spray sticky stuff on the track and I should be low 11's.

Lucas said this car should run 11.8's with a good driver after he road tunned it, pretty damn good guess huh?

Lucas is definitely the guy to go to if you want to run ethanol.

Sweet.. E85 is the sh*t..I didn't know you could go as lean as 15:1 AFR's. I had mine set up around 12:1. But if it is true that it's safe to run 15:1 AFR's and you make more power that way i may lean it out a little bit. Let me know that kind of information would be valuable..

Did you have to change anything else with the fuel system running E85? or was it just a case of tune and go (with the mods you specified).

I thought the stoichiometric number for ethanol was lower than gasoline? This link as the stoichiometric number for ethanol (ethyl alcohol) at 9 http://www.ext.colostate.edu/Pubs/farmmgt/05010.html

im sure hes not running afrs in the 15's at wot. Gas runs typical mid 14's stoich and on e85 you can run high 15's even low 16's. Im sure ( i hope) hes in the low 12's at wot.

It's like running race gas all the time. You will see crazy improvements when placed on a dyno. He probably has 400 lbs tq on a dynojet.

It's worth it for a daily driver if you have access to multiple gas stations that supply E85. All you need is larger injectors, E85 and a good tuner. He has all 3!!
