Seriously, sounds like something bad is going on with the 3 cars that you are killing, or something really good is going on with your car... That kind of lead should take a huge difference in power.

Hmmm. Ok, I do not know this for sure, but I think that EVOTEXAS has dumped the spare tire, the jack, pieces out of the trunk, the front bumper bar brace thingy, the water container for the intercooler sprayer and maybe something else. The car has a flash, 20.5 lbs boost, 264's with no cam gears, O2 housing, 3" dp, a little resonator thingy with a short tip after that dumping the exhaust under the car, a different air filter and an underdrive crank pulley. I think that there is also a walbro pump, but that would not make a hp difference. I also KNOW that it is running a LOT of ignition advance, when the car was run at Wasabi a while back it kept on making more power as he DROPPED the boost. At least that tells me that it has a pretty agressive timing curve. Now I do not know if he was left foot braking, but he does have some driving experience, so who knows, but some well blueprinted mods along with a diet can make for a quick car, I guess the tale will be told at the Turbotrix dyno day. And some cars will be ringers, just look at the heads on the Evo's. I have seen some (my own) that was pretty clean with relativly little casting flash, while I have seen another (propellerhead now has it, the head came off of nastea's wrecked car) that had horrible casting flash. I think that most of the flash was on the #1 and #4 cylinders. This casting flash will cause hot spots, which cause detonation, which will force the tuner to back off on the timing. I think that nastea commented that when Al was tuning his car that he was constantly fighting detonation and that it did not make the kind of power that they were expecting. While two stock Evo may have run head-to-head that means nothing once the tuning parameter are pushed closer to the detonation limits. The stock cars run so rich in the top end that only a pretty sizable drop in octane rating would cause a higher RPM det problem, so by and large they would run in a pretty similar manner. But once the A/F is leaned out a bit, the timing is advanced, and the boost is turned up a bit you will find the cars that are more suseptable to detonation problems.
Now, some of this (maybe a lot) is my own opinion and if I am wrong then I will accept the rebutal with intrest as to the correct answer, but from what I have seen this is spot on. So take it for what it is worth.......

lol, that makes sense
Joey, it is documented that taking out the stuff in thr trunk saves 50 lbs. Hardly 4-5 car lengths worth. In fact, we all know this is worth about a half car length in the 1/4 mile. We didn't even race for an 1/8 hardly.
The resonator I am running is a temporary solution until my Megan catback, of which we are ordering 4 for several people, comes off backorder. BTW, the resonator is 2 inches in diameter. Hardly optimal.
And, yes, without all the mods (cams, O2 housing, IC pipe) my car was PULLING timing on pump gas at pretty much all RPMs due to an aggressive timing curve from a MAIL in flash. Now I am most likely even leaner and or pulling MORE timing thus making LESS THAN OPTIMAL power compared to a proper custom tune (coming Dec 11). Furthermore, on pulling timing, isn't there proof that a crank pulley hurts more than helps?
So while what you say makes sense, it doesn't add up to 4 or 5 car length pull considering my personal situation. We cannot apply typical generalizations to every circumstance and this is one of them especially considering the ONE FACT that everyone seems to be ignoring. The fact that BEFORE my cams, IC pipe, pulley, O2 housing, I was pulling Vincent and Greg, both Stage 1+ cammed cars with custom tunes, on the highway while I was full trunk weight and pulling timing on pump gas (as I still am). Why is there no answer for that? Huh, huh, huh??

My answer to that is that you live way too far away. Andrew's 1+ car is a rocketship here locally, and I have too many mods to play in the same comparo with you. I can tell you that it wouldn't happen to Andrew, though.

I guess Dallas has bad air for a Vishnu car.
Maybe the car is NOT pulling timing at all. Maybe your det sensor is getting no hint of detonation and the car is just running on really aggressive timing and fuel maps. Because if you were pulling timing, you wouldn't be pulling on cammed cars when you weren't cammed(without more mods than you have listed).
and who is "custom tuning" these vishnu cars in texas?
