Unlikely since the EVO uses an automatic tensioner for all the belts (no manual tightening involved). The tensioner keeps the belt at the desired tension. Also, one of the pulley failures occured when we were running the stock belt (once we put the AC back in).

Honestly, it would have been better if the engine had blown. We then could have swapped it another engine (we had our red shop car on hand to steal parts off of if we needed to) and gotten back to racing. The time it took to do three separate PS swaps and one turbo hotside swap (on a HOT motor) was certainly longer than doing one engine swap. And the second motor wouldn't have had the harmonics issue that seemed to be the root of all the evils we experienced. We wouldn't have one, of course. But at least we would have logged more time on the track.

Hey, could this be related to that P0300 code you guys keep running into with the V3 testing?

 

did you think the heat on the engine bay/firewall, assisted the "harmonic" issue.
would better cooling of the engine bay help?
or did the omission of the AC, to start with, started the "problem"?

even though you lost you guys still kick *** theres no doubt about that.. but i got a few questions... sorry if they are a tad incoherent, but i am VERY tired i was up til 6am working on a paper.

After the 25 hour race... is there anythign you have learned more about the evo?? i mean.. obviously this race would of shown the evo's true engine strength, do you feel there are things the evo community should know about modding out cars, and what areas to really strenghten up. I personally think you guys did way better then anyone expected.. anyone being car and driver, or any company who was putting in 8 cyl cars thinking " ha a 4 cyl"..... will there be another 25 hour race for vishnu????
