Well, we move fast here in the big city.

There's some people testing the code that aren't posting in this thread (shame on you folks). I didn't look at the code at all over the weekend, but just waited for people to send me complaints.

Seriously though, I urge anybody with free time to download a copy and try to break it.

I would be out there testing, but I gernaded my stock TB coupler on the last datalogging session. I should have my Samco hoses by Friday.

Then I will run some more tests.

Uh oh...Look at the units on this one!

Shameless keeping the excitement going,

I would be out there testing too if my car wasnt in the shop. So what does it take to convert relative power into hp?

At this point, newtonian physics. The arithmetic is extremely simplisitic. I pulled out my old college physics book and an evo brochure that had gear and final drive ratios.

I convert engine rpm to wheel rpm. With the wheel radius, I can calculate speed thus acceleration. Adding in the mass of the vehicle, I can calculate force (impluse is what i really use). Force crossed by wheel radius is effective wheel torque. Corrected for the gear and drive ratio I get measured engine torque at the wheels.

Ohh!! The MR has different gear ratios. Will that throw it off, much?

thanks

The HP & TQ numbers aren't exact anyways. He just trying to get them closer to what an Evo would dyno at . I kind of liked my 1200hp pull .

Donour, could you make a feature where we could over lay multiple dyno graphs onto 1 graph? I would also like to see graphs of the datalogging values too. Just some suggestions.

Not as different as you think. The first couple of gears are pretty close between the 6 speed and the 5 speed. I also have the gear ratios for the MR.

Actually my code is very generic and you could use ANY car given that you know mass, gear ratios, final drive, rolling tire radius, and a few other things.

That not difficult at all. Actually that feature is already available, it just isn't enabled from the GUI. There's lots and lots of stuff I've tried (thanks to gnuplot) that is either a) hidden away in the code or b) hidden away on my laptop.

This and a bunch of other stuff will be pushed off to the next release. The 1.0 series won't get any new features -- just bug fixes.

Any chance at adding an input area for gear ratios, rolling tire radius, mass 'n such? Or do you want to keep it locked so people cant manipulate the numbers so much?

What I have in store is so much cooler than that. I'm developing an XML schema *ducks the bricks that people throw with 'poseur' written on them* that defines a "car" and all the required data to do dyno testing. That way you can just pick which car you have and the software will do the rest. Because it is XML, there's a plethora of editors around (or you could just use notepad) that can be used to create and edit the definitions. It would also be very, very easy for other applications (like dataloglab or commerical dyno software) to add support for the XML car specifications.

Did some testing this weekend. My plots came out ok... I think I haven't ever been on a dyno so I hope they look ok. I was doing some high-speed datalogging and I got some errors, but my drunk friend who I was giving a ride shut off my laptop before I was able to check them, so I'll have to test out the datalogging features more closely and without a drunk friend in the passenger seat. LOL I'm suprised I got my plot saved, he was so drunk he saved it as "zac rukes" when he was trying to spell "zach rules". Go figure, but at least he called a sober ride then trying to drive himself.
