When you skip around, you can't only read the jokes from IE Evo and Dude. That won't work.

Anyway, to answer your question, this mod is for Xede equiped cars only. However, most all of us will need some simple reflashing to adjust a few things, namely, boost cut, and rev limit increase.

Would an MR need a reflash? Not interested in raising the rev limit. But the boost cut would be a might ba a problem.

If you install cams and want to run race gas at max psi, I'm pretty sure you do need a reflash for boost cut, even though MR's and newer Evos have a higher boost limit before cut....

I would like to avoid the reflash if I can. I would just do a exhaust and possibly a cam upgrade. I will let you crush the gearboxes Smog. race gas maybe I just want an improved MR for the street and some autox.

OK.... I think I read all the post from the last week. All 7,251 of them. I have a real world question for Shiv...

Shiv, does the SMART tune start with your base map every time you start the car or is there an option to burn the adjusted values to the eprom? Example, you start with a value of -7 in a cell on the base map while you run the car it gets SMART and changes the value to -3 after driving around. Now, I know it will keep changing as you drive and idle. When you turn the car off, and then on will the base map be -7 or -3. I assume that it will be -7 as it will load the base map back in and the SMART value will be lost and re-adjusted as you drive.

OK, here comes the question after that... What if your at the 1/4 strip and you start your car, stage, and run. Will the xede have enough time to get SMART or should you allow idle time for the SMARTness to adjust for conditions. I believe if it is making adjustments on the fly it should be SMART in a matter of a second or two. Am I correct in thinking this? OK, then while driving around can you download the map from the Xede and see what changes have been made by the SMARTness and save that map, then reupload the SMART adjusted map as a base map so next time you are running a more accurate base map? Or is the map in the Xede not SMART just the adjustments to the map and they are lost when you power down the Xede?

I hope you read this and have to time to respond.

Please post when you will start taking orders for the SMART add-on for your current customer base as I would like to get one as soon as they are available.

You WILL hit the fuel cut if you add the cams. If you want to avoid the flash don't do the cams. Just do an Xede (with SMART if available), exhaust, cam gears and run race gas. You will be about 50 horses down but should be below the fuel cut. Cams open up the motor on top end big time which is not needed for auto-x as much. I run a stage 1+ with 264/272 cams and a stock evo beats me every race by .1 to .5 sec with his r-compound tires.

He runs A-Stock which allows for R tires. I run STU which doesn't (Or SM depending on the event and club) allow for R compound tires.

If you want to run good in auto-x get lighter rims and R compound tires.

If it's anything like Bosch Motronic, it will store the "last good" settings, regardless of start (taking into account coolant temp, oil temp, etc).

The SMART system does not learn. It works by constantly monitering the conditions, and making changes that suit those conditions within a fraction of a second. With that said, learning would be somewhat useless, as it would not prevent from future changes from being made, as the conditions change.
