Advice with 1+(V390)
I am currently running stage 1+(V390): TurboBack Exhaust, test pipe, 264/272 cams, cam gears at -2/-2, NGK BR8ES plugs, 255LPH fuel pump, and XEDE.
I dynoed yesterday on a DynoJet and put down 310Hp and 277torque using 94 octane. Those numbers seemed a little low to me and I rememeber seeing similar setups on the forum running closer to 360hp. I was wondering if anybody could offer advice for my setup.
Also, a friend gave me a copy of his stock Evo baseline which dynoed at 220hp. I'm estimating that rougly 20% HP does not make it to the wheels, so a stock Evo has 276 crank HP and only gets 220hp to the wheels. So using 20% again, stage 1+ is 390 crank Hp and 20% less would be rougly 312 wheel hp? Are these assumptions accurate?
Sorry if this topic is a re-run, I searched but could not find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
-Mike

Yeah, I would expect you to be a bit higher as well. Questions:
Do you a full 3 inch turbo back exhaust?
Are you running a cat? If yes, your power is pretty close to normal.
What exact max boost values are you seeing? What does your boost taper to?
Spark plugs clean? Gap?
Stock diverter valve? Some hold boost great, a few do not. If you have an aftermarket bov, describe the settings.
Boost leaks? Very common problem, especially since your car is 2 1/2 years old.
Have you done a pressure check on your cylinders? Results?
What gear did you dyno in? 4th will show slightly lower numbers than 3rd. What correction factor do they use: SAE, STD, none?
What exact Xede map are you using?
Did they check your AFRs on your pull?

Thanks for the quick response. Here are some answers:
Yes, full 3" turboback exhaust(TurboXS cat-back and downpipe)
No cat, Helix Test Pipe
It looks like max boost is around 21PSI, I think it tapers off to around 18psi, not sure though
Installed new plugs and air filter before the dyno run. I'm going to check the gap today, what gap would your reccomend?
Stock BOV. Is that the same as Stock diverter valve?
Good idea for the boost leak check. I will also check that.
Have not done a pressure check yet. I will also check that.
We did the dyno pull in 3rd gear with no corrections.
I purchased the XEDE used from a friend running the exact same setup as me. He had it tuned by shiv. I'm running V2 XEDE.
Yes they checked the AFR's on the pull. It peaked at 14 around 2,000 rpm and leveled off to 12 at redline
Thanks for all the good advice.

Your numbers seem to be inline with where they should be at. For comarison's sake, my stage 1+ ran 276 wtq and 285 whp, uncorrected on an AWD DynoJet with 93 Octane and the cat. (more info here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...t=84010&page=3)
The fact that you're looking at uncorrected numbers and that you're only running 21 psi explains why you're not logging more power. On 94 Octane you should be able to run 23 psi without any problems, which is, IIRC, what the 93 octane base maps from Vishnu run at.

Thanks for all the great info. I finally got my dyno results emailed to me so I could post them. I've attached my best run. Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Here are some specifications:
Mods:
NGK BR8ES Spark Plugs
HKS 264/272 Camgears
Helix Adjustable Cam Gears set to -2/-2
TurboXS Downpipe
Helix Test Pipe
TurboXS Cat-Back
Vishnu Xede w/ Shiv V390 tune
Walbro 225LPH Fuel Pump
Settings:
About 20/21psi
72 Degrees and 19% Humidity
94 octane SUNOCO Pump Gas
The dyno technician was a bit worried about how lean I was running up untill about 4,000RPM.
Thanks

Yeah.. u need to be around 23psi on 94oct. As for the AFR, what u r seeing is sensor lag with the dynojets wideband. Plus, you don't need to be very during spool-up.

OK. Thanks for everybody's feedback. I wasn't aware that there was a lag on the dyno's wideband, that makes perfect sense now. I'm going to make a few adjustments and try again. I'll post the results soon.
Shiv: I know that you are a very busy man, I really appreciate your input/advice.

Dyno run
Wow, that map looks lean to me from 3500 to 5000. I would expect around 11.5 AFR when the car spikes to 23 psi and has all that torque (around 3300 to 3800 rpm). I amy be wrong. What did Shiv say? "you don't need to be very......" Shiv, did you forget a word there?
