Question Problems connecting XEDE to Xmap 3.2

I need some help with this.

Everytime I open the Xmap 3.2 a pop up stating "COM-PORT 1 error" shows up, it also states "it may be used by another program". After that the program opens. Once I try to conect to the Xede the program it gives me a "beep" and it wont connect. I try changing to the other comports from 1 to 1xx and they all give me the same "com port error" .
Ive downloaded the software in 3 different PC's all having the same problem.
Ive even tried with the Xmap 2.0 and have the same problem, "com port error" .

I know the cable is working since my brother uses it to connect his Split Second.

This is getting a bit frustrating since I can not see/adjust/tune any of the maps in my XEDE. I just simply cannot connect.

Please help me.

Do you have the driver for the cable installed on your computer?

Did the serial cable come w/ the Split Second or is a generic serial cable?

Its a generic.
I even tried with another cable.

Thrust me, Ive tried anything I could think of.

I just install the Xmap, when I open it, a pop-up shows up stating "comport error" just like that.
Then the program opens. It has happend in 3 different pc's I have also tried.

It prob means that there is another program currently using com port 1; like the error says. Example I get that error sometimes when my Hotsync is on for my Palm Desktop. Find out if any other program is currently using com port 1. Since you said it worked fine with your brothers Split Second program check to make sure it does not have com port 1 occupied.

I dont know what OS your running but if its windows; just put the mouse on the toolbar, right click, and click on Task Manager. In Applications check to make sure the Split Second program is not running; or any other program that can or would use the com port 1. If nothing is there then go to the Process tab in the Windows Task Manager and find any executables (.exe) that would belong to the Split Second program. If you are not sure what programs belong to it open up My Computer->local disk C: ->Program Files-> and find the Split Second folder (Odds are its name is "Split Second" and open that folder up look for any executable files in there and go back to the Task Manager and check if any of them are running. If highlight them and click end Process.

The problem is not the Split sec program, we tried this in 3 different computers and only one has the SSec software in. The error pops out quickly once you hit to open the V3.2 software. Probably we will have to reconfigure the ports in the computer as Heyzeus11 recomends if not will call Vishnu to guide me trough the install.

Thanx anyways..

I manage to open the Xmap without any com port error. But now when I change the Comm Port(in the comm port set up) a pop up states: "Command Failed(Error Code 6):The handle is invalid."
After that it gives me the Error stating(after selecting Com port 4)
"Com port COM4 invalid. It may be used by another program"
I do not have the split second program installed on this laptop.

please help.
