And the Nice Thing About a BIG Turbo Is . . .
And the Nice Thing About a BIG Turbo Is . . .
When one is just traveling along, minding his own business, and is encountered by an provocative individual with more money than sense, who happens to be driving one of these sweet toys:

Yes, I did enjoy the gut wrenching torque and instant response of the TME/methanol setup when the boost was turned up, but the downside with it and of course any 16G or similarly sized turbo, is the diminishing performance as the white lines begin clicking past quickly and the demand for large mass air flow rises.
With the GT35R, yes, it takes a second or so for the party to get rolling, but once it does . . . woo ha!
Thanks for the tune Shiv!
Let's just say that there were three solid attempts to demonstrate the 493hp/516 ft lbs of the AMG at considerable speed, but all were unquestionably squashed by the 'angry trumpets' of the GT35R with ATP boost-actuated exhaust cutout and open 44mm WG dump.
He had an opportunity to catch up with me at a pit stop and inquire as to what lives under the hood. Funny how someone can be dumbfounded at the idea of a 2.0L I4 outrunning a supercharged AMG 5.5L V8, with the engine builder's name (Andreas Messer) etched on a plaque atop the intake manifold.
And finally, when he remarked in amazement about 'all that fire' (methanol injection) coming from behind the car, I simply reminded him that if one can see the fireworks show, he can see my tailights.
And of course, the aformentioned antecdote took place entirely on a private road, and thus no laws were violated.

#5 - 430whp @ 25 psi on a Dyno Dynamics = ~495 whp on a Dynojet. Not enough clutch to go further at this point.
#7 - I don't see too many CL 65s running up and down the roads, picking for trouble.
#8 - Still on the stock bottom end for the moment, but that will change soon.
#9 - As far as his reaction, he was astounded. He had a lady friend with him who he was apparently trying to impress. I don't think it worked.

I am looking for one of those to kill also! I ran a CLS55 and we were side by side up until about 120 or so. I was making only 397whp on 23psi then with no alky. When we got to the light he shook his head in amazment, he also had a honey in the car he was trying to impress. I know he was thinking to himself how a car with a big wing run with his 100k machine.
