New car in the stable

We just got ours a few hours ago. A brand spankin' new BMW 335i Coupe (dark metallic grey with red leather interior). The first turbocharged (twin-turbo, in fact) BMW in 25 years. And one helluva car. Not nearly as hardcore as the EVO but certainly unlike anything BMW has made before. Just as quick as the current E46 M3 but with a MUCH more flexible powerband. So, in other words, it's a lot quicker than the M3 when driving anything less than 10/10ths. Suspension is tight and surprsingly aggressive. The brakes are great. The ngine is a real honey. Doesn't even feel turbocharged as there is instantaneous v8-like torque at any speed about 1500rpm. And there is more tech gizmos loaded in this car than all of our other shop cars combined. I spent nearly 2 hours with the sales guy going over features/functions (active xenon headlights that swivel when you corner, built-in bluetooth for your cell phone, realtime comms with bmw usa through satellite...wth.) More info to come...

Cheers,
shiv

Nice! My friend is thinking about trading in his 3 series for the newer one too. He test drove it today and i guess he was pretty impressed with it overall.

Nice to hear Shiv. That 335 is a possible replacement for my car down the road when I settle down...

Yeah, it's pretty damn quick. Can light up the rear tires easily in 1st gear with the traction control completely off. It'll also spin the tires shifting into second. I'd say that it is just as quick as a stock Evo IX. And certainly as quick as my 996. But with a much broader power-band. Trap speed in the 1/4 mile is supposed to be around 106mph which is very believable after driving it. Very impressive car. I'd choose it over the current E46 M3 anyday.

Awesome... from what I read it sounds like a great platform. If I ever get another car it may just have to be the 335.

hey shiv, since you have the 335i will you be modifying the exede for this car. the reason I am asking is that I just ordered my 335i and will be getting it in 6-8 weeks. I am very excited getting this. I am already looking into aftermarket stuff for this. Please tell me that you will be making products for this car. I would really hate to go to other vendors in the bmw arena and getting rear ended for for the parts which I know is pretty damned expensive. My heart is still with my evo, I guess I am really getting old with still the kid at heart.
