We’ve sold hundreds of Evo reflashes with a fantastic customer satisfaction rate. In search90020’s case there may have very well been an external issue that would cause an otherwise sold base map to not function properly on his car.

Unfortunately due to a mix up in scheduling, Shiv was unable to meet with him to diagnose his car. We offered to schedule a free dyno tune to help alleviate any issues he was having with the flash, but search90020 said he could not take the time to drive up north. Offer still stands

Just my .02 cents, I would have thought I’d be in the best interest of the customer to understand why his car would have issues with a base map that hundreds of other cars are able to run with no issues.

there has got to be something else wrong with the car... That map is on 2 of my friends cars and their cars run perfectly, and are MUCH faster than stock evo 9s.

Calvin@Vishnu - Problems went away after I removed the boost emulator. It's running fine now with my flash.

I think the problem here is that the gains seen by the vishnu v380 flash are mostly top end hp gains, in 3rd and 4th. There isn't a whole lot of difference in the power band down low, look at theses dyno graphs: http://www.vishnutuning.com/images/e...vs_reflash.jpg

I would guess that if you guys would have done a 3rd or 4th gear pull when you were stock and he had v380 he would have pulled on you a bit, but your not going to see much in just 1 second gear pull. Just my 0.02
Not sure, but probably as much as everyone else's. On Jestr's, the MIVEC's tuned for bottom end as well. And since it's only boosting to 22psi and doesn't cause a boost leak, it runs leaner than the v380 and gets better gas mileage.

From my understanding, the "v380" isn't really a v380. I've seen dynoes of bone stock IXs putting down 255whp, which translates to 360hp given 30% drivetrain loss. Which makes it a gain of 20hp. Not worth it IMO, considering how much boost it's making and how rich it's running.

I do know that my friend's had no top end. He'd bit the boost/fuel cut quite a lot.

stock IX's put down anywhere from 225-235 on a DD dyno, and up to 255 or more on a mustang dyno. So the exact dyno used is needed to do fair comparisons.

If you look at the link to the dyno graphs from vishnu's website I posted above, you would see they are both done on a DD dyno. Base line is around 225 whp and with the flash it gets to 270whp, that is about a 45 whp gain. And when you translate that into crank hp with a 30% drivetrain loss it gets you in the ballpark of 380 hp, that is not a 20 hp gain, it is a dyno proven 45 whp gain.

Why did removing the boost emulator help solve your problem?

Because the emulator causes a boost leak, forcing boost above 25psi no matter what the ECU's doing. Removing the emulator and plugging the leak made it drop back down to 21psi. (w/o the pill)

Baseline is ~225whp for the VIIIs, ~250whp for the IXs.

Now you know how long this has been going on and why I think it's crap.

What's your point?

I'm flattered though. You remembered. <3

Sounds like it would be well worth taking one or two days off and driving up to get it fixed.

Honestly, there is no point.

It's just that I havn't been on the forum in a long while, I come back to see whats goin on and the first thing I see is the same old story, just humors me.

Honestly, there are two sides to every story, every pereson has their opinion about everything, and nothing that's written on the internet, regardless who writes it should be taken seriously. I go by personal experience only, and that experience has told me over and over again that Shiv is a fantastic tuner. Does he have the best relational skills when it comes to dealing with the relentless bombardment of potential/present/past customers? No, but that's ok when your work is as impeckable as his.

I can just read posts like this and laugh, because someone is leaving something out of the story.

- Steve

P.S. - It's been said before and I'll just repeat it. Coming online to bash a vendor is the LAST thing you should consider doing if you actually want to get a situation resolved. Even if Shiv did go out of his way to fix whatever is wrong with this guys car, I seriously doubt either of you would come back here and refute the damage you've attempted to do, so why should he?

btw, I did make the attempt to meet Shiv and even made the appointment to go see him until he totally flaked on me at the last minute. He didn't even call me or anything until I called him on the day of the appointment. And soon as I want a refund then he attempts to help me out. Like i said before its a 14 hour round trip, since he flaked on me he should at least come down to see me. All I know somekind of help should of been there instead of being brushed off like that.

SuperHatch - Careful, now you're insulting and questioning my integrity. I have explained to the best of my knowledge every last detail of how the v380 is supposed to run and what it does.

Nobody with a v380 has come in and made a post stating that theirs does not run 25psi. Nobody at Vishnu has made any post denying that it's not supposed to run that much boost, or run that rich, that it causes a boost leak, and that it taxes the components. Just that it's having adverse effects.

Do you have any relevant info to post regarding how the v380 works, or are you just being a fanboy?

Driving up is fine, except that he's already spent $100+ and put on 1,000 miles on his car to drive up the first time. Do you expect him to spend another $100+, put on another 1,000 miles, and take a day off of work for them to fix the problem that they caused?

I don't know why you guys wouldn't try taking the car to Tuning Technologies to help resolve the issue. Alfred is familiar with Shiv's tunnes and might be able to help. Alfred helped diagnose an issue I was having with my XEDE. Problem is now fixed thanks to his (Alfred's) help.

A fact is that it's pretty tough to diagnosie a turbo car that does not have a boost gauge; it's pretty much a waste of time.

The other issue with turbo cars is that so many things can go wrong that will cause the car to run like crap that is completey unrelated to the ecu. I've come from the nissan world where a bunch of guys had mechanical issues but immediately blamed the ecu for the problems. Completely retarded things like having the fuel pressure too high, O2 sensor not hooked up, massive leaks vacuum/boost leaks, etc.

Regardless, there are enough Evo owners in the LA area to help trouble shoot the car. Heck, I might have some free time.

I will.
I set up dyno days for Vishnu in GA, and the v380 IXs boost about 22-23psi when everything is installed correctly. The car makes about 230whp stock on the Dyno Dynamics, and jumps to 270-275 with a v380 custom tuned. Box stock other than the boost pill and the flash.
