quick question

Shiv. . .

I took my car to a 4wd dynojet b/c they had some meet down there and it was cheap. . .

The stage 1+ that dynoed a bit under 270hp on your dyno (with hi-flo cat, 91 octane) only dynoed at 292hp and 272 tq on the dynojet.

A stock evo on that dynojet dynoed at 240hp and 250 tq. (tested at 75 degrees, where as mine was tested at around 90-95 or so).

So, according to the chart, i only gained 50 hp and 20 tq. Is that normal? Any suggestions? I want to move on to a turbo upgrade, but if there is something wrong with my car, i want to get that taken care of first.

my guesses:

1) the car just isn't making as much power as it was when you tuned it
2) for whatever reason, my cat is clogged up
3) temp difference

See, i wasnt able to stay long enough to find out.

Some WRX running a Cobb stage 2 (which is everything right before a turbo upgrade i think) ran a 220 hp.

BEsides that, a couple s4's ran 400+ hp on race gas, but thats all i saw.

It was really hot, so i can't say that the conditions for the other cars that i heard about anecdotally were similar . . .

But supposedly one Sti stock did a 240hp. . .

oh yeah, and some guy on our forums was running sorta similar mods . . .

he had a turboback and intake and a utec . . . and piping and a FMIC . . . and no cat, but no cams, and he ran about the same hp and tq as me (although on different conditions as well)..

That stage 1+ should have dynoed at @ 315 whp on a dynojet if Shiv saw 270 on his DD dyno....
I have just dynoed a STi that was stock and it put down 251.5 whp on DD
Something sounds screwy with that Dynojet....very high stock evo figure???
and although not knowing the spec of the S4's the figure of 400 also sounds high..
Can you post your graph???

On the awd dynojet in houston the Vishnu 1+ car were dyno'ing around 320-330 whp. But that is also on 93 octane gas aswell or maybe it was race gas not sure just saw the dyno graphs when I was there.

Hey alex,

I think it was probably just the dyno because a car made 274 here on our dyno, and the very next day on a dynojet made 291. So the gains were only about 6%, and the same went for a few other cars that dyno'd here. Most dynojets when calibrated "normally"( normal being 99% of the dj dynos I've seen) read about 15-16% higher than our dyno.

True. We had a friend of ours come in with his baseline xflash 1+, and he was 30whp down from other 1+ cars. We thought he may have gotten one of the weak early production evos that we've seen. He left, drove his car until he emptied his gas tank, came back with a full tank of Union 76 91 octane(best we get here) and shazam! He made 270 on a baseline Xflash. No changes made to anything. Just filled up with some better gas..I think he had like safeway gas in there before.
