I searched and just kept getting different answers. I have a smc trunk mount kit and i am going to run Denatured Alcohol since that was what i got from searching. My question is do i put it in right out of the can or do i mix it with water? What would the mix be? 50/50?

Anyone I want to prime the pump and finish hooking it up but i dont want to mess anything up.

 

50 50 seems to be the correct answer since not all pumps say they will handle 100% alky.... you should be fine with 50 / 50. I poor mine into a large jug first to mix it, then poor it into the tank

 

It's whatever mixture you want to go with. I am running 100% methanol, which I love, and there are others out there running a 50/50 mix. It is all up to you on what you want to go with. Whatever you choose to do though, you have to keep the same mix all the time.

 

Yeah, I'm not too sure about the quality of your particular pump. Some may not be made to handle 100% meth/alcohol. I would check with whomever you bought it from, the specs of the pump/kit you have.

 

i have the SMC kit... im sure it would handle 100% but for how long i guess is the question. Some kits say they dont recommend it, but then you ask the people selling them and they say they have no problems.... i just stick with 50/50 because thats what im tuning for

 

So half denatured alcohol half water?

 

i actually use something different then denatured alcohol... i use the product called HEET. its in a yellow bottle. they sell it at wal-mart, autozone, its pretty inexpensive and easy to find.

 

I already bought the Denatured alky so should i just mix it with water? I dont want anything to get messed up. I dont dd the car so if i go 100% would that be bad sitting there?

yes I run 100% denatured all day and no failures to date after 5 months.

 

100% meth, its cheap and easy to get. But mixing it 50/50 is fine.

 

You have to inject the percentage of Alky which you were tuned for. If you add to the percentage of Alky you will run richer and probably lose power. Todd

 

i have an smc kit and have been using 100 percent den. alky for a few months and i got the kit used. the previous owner also used straight denatured. i understand the theory i just can't put water in my engine idk seams like a bad idea
