will it harm engine to turn off meth?

I'm currently tuned to 25 psi (VERY conservative) on meth at around 11.3 A/F. I have an on/off switch in case my wife drives the car or I run out of meth. Now the question- will turning off the meth kit mess up my a/f ratio or cause any damage to my engine? Before the install, I was running 25 psi. I haven't bothered turning it off since it's so addicting, but I guess this is a "what if" type question. I'm now debating on getting two tunes, one for pump, and the other for meth, but with the psi so low, will it make a huge difference? Thanks in advance.

i would not turn that off... unless you stay off the boost then it should be okay, but the meth is keeping the engine from blowing. Turn it off and drive without boost and you're fine, but if you hit boost you might run into some problems.

Thanks again for the advice, it look slike I'm going to have to get two tunes. The system is set up not to turn on until 10psi, so figured if I never hit 10+psi I would be fine.

which is true...now if your wife steps on it and you're out of meth. Kaboom...or if you were tuned by Al then he tunes it safe enough to not blow on level he set it to if the meth fails.

The easy fix would be to turn down the boost whenever your wife drives it. Other than that you should have a secondary map, one for meth and one for pump and no meth.

but wait... wouldnt turning off the meth, or running out of meth, would intiate the failsafe feature, and that would cause the car the run out of wastegate pressure (assuming that a mac valve is installed)..

i mean i paid the price of doing that.. (not having two map), and i ran on the same map with/without methanol, and that caused me to do a full block build

On mine, no. Turning off the meth will run the same psi, just no meth. If the failsafe engages, then it's wastegate pressure. Basically what I wanted is if I ran out of meth, instead of running wastegate pressure, just turn the system off and run at 25 psi. Before the tune, I was running 25 psi, and after tune still at 25 psi, so figured if I turned it off, it wouldn't have much effect. I got mine very conservative which is what I got.

The answer is still no.

Your fuel map and timing maps are surely different from what you had when you were tuned without alcohol injection.

To do it safely you would need to ensure that while the meth is off you ensure there is not WOT driving and you stay out of boost! Like stated above your fuel map and timing map will still be configured for the car running on meth and if the meth kit is turned off your failsafes will not activate. Get two maps for the ECU!

I agree with you fellahs. But to answer your concerns, why are you cheating your wife? If she wants to get crunk while driving, let her. Nah, seriously, having two maps available would pay the best dividends for you and for your wife as well. Get in the car, hit the switch, and you're all set. It'll be a terrible thing to get caught on a long road trip with no methanol available.
