from what i was reading the most you can pull out of an safc if you have basic mods is 20whp...is that true or was a reading wrong info? if its more that that then i will go get an safc. but for only 20 whp i can spend the money better else where...

You're looking at it all wrong. It's a tuning device, and the info you read is wrong. Unless your talking peak HP. My gains were pretty substantial when I went to TT last July. I gained a whole bunch mid-range HP and torque. Don't remember off hand exactly what the numbers were. With the SAFC, you're not trying to "pull' HP out of the car. Rather, you're ensuring that the engine is running reasonably safe AFRs, the byproduct being some fuel being pulled out and that equating to freeing up some HP, seeing as our cars run below 10-1 AFRs after 5000 rpm on up.
But if you rather spend that money on a quick 20 HP, by all means go for it. You're still gonna need to get tuned eventually.

it seems like a custom ecu tune nets more hp over the whole rpm range than just an safc. thats why i was asking if the tuner was doing ecu flashes as well as safc tune's. if a tuner can just re-map my ecu and get better results that way i would rather spend 350 on a custom ecu tune over the safc.

Wow 2 pages already..lol, hey lvnevo get a safc skip the flash youll be good! Its a good tool to use on your car and you can mess with it, so you will also have an Idea how to tune or how it works.
