as far as where the meet should take place i would say it has to hapen hafl way from la to sd or in orange county. If you want to go to sd thats cool but theres another furum for sd individuals who meet in sd. But hey what is the majority then i have no place to talk if we all pick sd. Put lets just try to keep it in orange. Another thing if we should have a drive rally like the one from him nights wehere they meet somewhere and they all drive to barstow or before that so they can show their mods on the street. Plus the 15 is great theres a lot of rest places where we can take food and junk and bump our systems and check out our mods without worry of the cops. Tellings us to be quite.

I've been monitoring everything that has been going on this board, and I don't like it. What I don't like is that everyone is hating on Kara. I've read every post by Kara and those directed to Kara, and all you guys do is insult her and belittle her. Although Kara is alot younger than you guys, she's alot more mature in her responses; thus showing you who she really is.
What I am trying to say is Kara is something special. Something that never really occurs in a car club. A person with a great personality who's nice and at the same time beautiful. She gives your car club credibility, because most of you are guys who wouldn't even have the chance to hang with a girl of that caliber because the only thing she has in common with you guys is the love of the Lancer.
Trust me I know. Most of the people in the other car clubs I frequent are worthless guys. Kara you know who's got your back.

Car meets are about the people, not about the person who puts it together.
I have no clue on what really happend here, I know there is a lot of things that could have been said on the side or in person or just stuff left off the boards, but come on. If you really want your board and club to take off your gonna have to get past a couple of things first. I have a lot of differences with other people on our impreza car club, but they are still invited, I will try to say hi no matter what. What's going on here is just BS and clash of ego's.

Since being nominated President of this fine organization, I thought I'd post some thoughts on what is currently happening. My background - I've been to probably 15 car meets in the past 2 years. I've got friends scattered all over the eastern half of the US as a result. I've probably spent as much on attending meets as some of you guys have spent on your cars! But every one is full of memories (mostly good
), and I wouldn't trade them for anything. OK, a huge wad of money, maybe
First, a point of reference - you should never post a private conversation (AIM or e-mail) for public dissemination without both parties agreeing to it. It benefits nobody, as evidenced in pages 1-9 of this thread.
Next - A bit of a reality check, if you will. Most of you guys and gals are teenagers or twentysomethings, and the Lancer is probably your first "nice" car. If you don't fall into this category, I apologize - it's just a generalization based on your member profiles. So, the SCLC is made up of mostly younger people, gathering for the express purpose of sharing their interest in their Lancers, a vehicle which for all practical purposes is an economy car. Likely, very few of you will be in this club for long - maybe 1-2 years, 3 years tops. Interests change, cars change, people relocate, etc. So, as far as the SCLC goes, it should really be run as loosely as possible, because old faces will fade and new ones will show up in their stead. IMO, titles are especially bad - acknowledge a small group of people as the organizers, but realize that the body of the club is always going to be fluid, and the organizers will be too. Giving someone a title ("president", "CEO", "secretary", etc) only creates animosity. My suggestion: Richard, Kara, and Link - mutually plan upcoming events, including date, time, location, facilities, etc. Make sure all 3 of you know the full story before relaying to the other members. Post it here, e-mail, AIM, whatver... Get the word out but make sure the words are the same. Richard and Kara, you each offer something different to the club, and as soon as you both realize that the club is better with both of you "running the show" than it is with only one, the sooner the club can prosper and expand.
Location - I sorta laughed when a few of you complained about having to drive an hour. I've driven 12 hours to go to a car meet. Of the 30,000 miles on my car, probably 10,000 of them are just traveling to meets
. It's nearly impossible for me to get anything together without traveling 2-4 hours. You guys in SoCal don't realize how good you have it! My suggestion: Rotate locations around LA. Allow someone to be the "host" for each meet - they can scout out a location (public land with no age restrictions!), make sure other groups and cops aren't going to be a problem, etc. If someone isn't willing to do that, they'll probably have to drive further. Fair trade, no?
Events - Don't have every meet be the same thing. Meeting in a park and talking about mostly identical cars gets stale. Invite a friend with a different car along (Evo7/8, scooby, S2000
, etc), go on a drive (PCH anyone?), etc. The only real guidelines should be keep it cheap, keep it open (no age restrictions), and keep it legal
Intent - I think some of you are forgetting the point of the SCLC. I'm not sure what Richard's initial goal was, but as I see it, the SCLC is just an acronym representing a small group of owners' desire to hang out now and then. There's a bit too much thought and angst going into this whole process. What should be happening? Someone plans the event (see above), people express interest (figure 2/3 will actually show), people show up, talk cars, eat, drink, and be merry. Pictures are taken, hands are shook, cars are admired. People go home, log onto the forum, say how great of a time they had, post pictures, and say they're looking forward to the next one. END OF STORY! Even if you out and out DESPISE someone you met, let it slide. Ignore them if you must. But never forget, the whole point of the car clubs is to meet people with a common interest, talk about cars , and most importantly, have a good time!. Odds are, a few of you will become good friends, but otherwise it's just a social thing, like golfing... Treat it as such.
That's all from El Presidente for now

If any of you with a thunder gray lancer in Cali have or plan on getting an aftermarket hood and would be willing to part with yours, let me know. The full story and reason is in here:

Here goes a suggestion... Let's meet in Carlsbad for some 1/4mile runs. I believe there is a track there for testing out your rides. You just need a helmet and like $25 to enter slip. Then you can hot lap all you want i believe. Will check on the facts.
