Hey guys. I needed new brakes rotors recently. I took my car to Joe and TurboLab and he installed Hawk HP+ brake pads and Stoptech Rotors. My brakes are now squealing louder than imaginable!!! I had a similar problem with the stock brakes and rotors, but never this bad. Any ideas? Is there any way to fix this? Its annoying, embarassing, and its killing my game! LOL!

It's the HP+. That's what I went with in the STi after my stockers were bad. They squeal easily 2x more and louder than the stock ones. But they have easily half the brake dust and twice the stopping power. Plus they were cheap. A fair trade to me.

If you don't like it, it is time to sell em and buy a softer compound street pad rather than a street/track pad.

it's the nature of the compound of the pads. are you the guy that works at fedex?

edit: i guess i should have read the last post where UT_evo answers your questions haha.

I used to work at FedEx. I quit there about 9 months ago. Should I switch to HPS? What do you think of the Hawk ceramics? Worth it?

Switch to a softer compound pad like I said. The HPS would be a decent choice. Basically anything that says "For street use only, do not use for track or autocross" will be a good one for you. Just don't do any insanely spirited driving and hope for it to hold up lots of heat.

Currently you have pads that are designed for a street/track use car that can take the abuse of a track but aren't too abusive on the rotors to use on the street, and get hot enough fast enough they can grip with just a little street driving. You've basically got a DOT R-Compound tire grade pad (in tire terms) and what you need is an all-season grade pad.

The good news: You have an Evo and have a set of barely used pads that are really great for those of us who like street/track pads. So you should be able to sell them fairly quickly.

i had them on my SRT-4 and had no noise and they worked well. but they are also like 1/3 the size of evo breaks so more room for squeaking.

I have been wondering why I haven't seen your car over there forever. I pass by there on 1200 west every day. What do you do now and your still in Provo right? Pads I am not sure on since I have never had to replace any. (Yet) I am going to be putting my new 2 piece front and rears rotors on and will probably need to get new pads so I will be interested in finding some good Pads

Hawk Ceramics are good if you do not want dust but HPS perform better.

I think I need to find someone with a White Base Lancer Trunk to swap with my spoiler one on the Evo X. This spoiler has gotta go.
