Moving to AZ...answer some of my questions
Hi,
I am thinking of moving to AZ for a job in Fort Huachuca and I was wondering what the emissions and the weather was there like? Never been to AZ except for Four Corners (does that count).
What's the housing like. My wife is thinking we are going to be broke if we move there from Denver. Thinking of picking up a bike and riding that mostly. Can I do this yr round or for most of the year?

Dude, I am now living in Sierra Vista, Arizona and can answer 100% of all of your questions. I take it that you are an Intel guy, right? As for emissions, those of us in "da Vista" do not have to worry about that unlike our brothers up in the Tucson and Phoenix areas. As for weather, we have monsoon season from roughly late-June to early-September. As for housing, the homes are good but I can answer that if I knew what the size of your family is. Actually, Sierra Vista is much cheaper than Denver as I know of a couple personally that moved from Colorado Springs to take jobs here. As for a bike, and I am assuming that you are talking about a motorcycle, that would be great (except for monsoon season). I personally live less than seven miles from my house to the main gate.

LOL I doubt I am taking the job now. Crazy how fast things work. Intel..um sorda. Cyber Security/ Network Security / Computer Forensics.
Things just didn't work out and I got offered a different job up here.
Monsoon season? How so? Can't rain as much as Guam when I was stationed there.
Yes I will be picking up a Ducati soon and thought I could ride there year round.
My family wife, son, me, evo...soon to be bike.

Yes. Things do change awfully quick these days. I know that first hand as one minute I was preparing to take a job in Germany and the next I am here in Afghanistan doing Intel contractor work. For the monsoon season, it is nothing like what is witnessed in the amazon areas whatsoever. It is the Arizona-type. Now do not get me wrong, as it pours pretty good up in Sierra Vista and it is much needed. It is one of the best times of the season for my wife and I. Your family is growing by the second. I plan to add another "child" to the equation once I get back as well.

Ya putting in the work to make a second child is what I like. I would work OT everyday for that job. LOL
Ya I tried getting a job in Afgan but nobody responded to my inquires. Would love to have it. Maybe one day I will move down to Sierra Vista, it seems to be calling my name all the time.

Gotta let you know, it is HOT ! Like you woulnd't believe!
and then, just for fun, we get MASSIVE thunderstorms for a few weeks in the afternoon, just around 5pm when everybody is leaving work to go home.
In fact, last week, not only did we have a massive storm, it actually HAILED ! I was like WTF!
The good news is, that is just about the only natural disasters we have.

I heard it's not too hot there because it's in the MNTs. Is this not true? Someone said it rains there a lot which I found hard to beleive. Thats' weird that it does rain there that much though.
Sierra Vista is roughly 4,500 feet elevation. By the time you drive north to Tucson, you are at roughly 2,600 feet elevation. The mountains do in fact help with the heat and the place is moderately cooler than say, Tucson or Phoenix which can differ by nearly 15-degrees on the same day. I am from Texas and totally familiar with the heat. I have lived in Sierra Vista for nearly four years now. Yes, it does rain but I would not say a lot. It is only during the periods I stated earlier.
