dont worry about your cams even though they will lope as long as you have the stock cat in, no check engine light on or any pending codes stored, the lope will be irrelevant, as the emissions will be filtered through the stock cat...just make sure your mbc if you have one is kinda hidden. other then that youll be fine man,

Yes, boost and AFR gauges will cause you to fail the visual. Also gives them a reason to look a little harder at your car trying to spot mods.

this is so upsetting, if it passes the sniffer part who cared about gauges or anything visual right? isn't all that SHOULD matter is the the way the car interacts with the environment? California is so absurd!

Even the ref agreed the whole gauge thing was a little overkill, at least they are easy to tuck away before you have to go in for the test.

Personally I think the "plug in" smog test is great, after reading into it a little it looks like that will start in 2013 for all cars 2000 and above.

gauges shouldnt be an issue, my recommendation go get a pre smog check done, u pay like 20-40 and itll tell u if it passes the sniffer test, as for boost and afr, you can tell them you bought the car used and it had them on there, theres nothing sayin you cant have extra gauges to monitor what the cars doing. youll be fine man, just ask your friends and family who they take there cars to to get smogged, go to that guy tell him you want a check only...then youll know if you pass the sniffer without the results going to DMV.

You obviously haven't tried to smog a car with gauges by a shop that follows the law a boost gauge you might get away with if they are lax about it but the wideband has to go before the cat...HUGE no-no by cali law and an instant fail.

My info came straight from the state ref, had to get one of those nasty tickets taken care of so I asked a lot of questions. I had to remove the gauges to pass
