I heard the evos didn't do so well at the drags last night. Anywho just seeing if anyone wants to do a cruise later tnight. Meet at Borders or whatever bookstore it is at riverwoods in provo, near the mouth of the canyon. I'm thinkin 11:30pmish. I'm trying to get a f430, murcielago and a gallardo to go and maybe some other sweet cars so come if u like. Ill get on a little later to confirm. Later
Man, this just takes me back to the "never loose your racing spirit" or whatever the exact quote was. That still makes me laugh, and made my day at the time hehe
might see a diff, my friend did on his VIII turbo but you could just save the $ to put towards other items and the turbo isn't the funnest thing to take on n off...not the worst just not the funnest thing and if your taking it off etc. might as well do o2 housing and port your exhaust mani & coat it at same time..
but I just rambled off to a question that you decided not to ask

Basically I don't like to have any downtime with the car, so anything that I plan on modding involving stock parts, (ported exhaust manifold for example) I typically just tend to buy an additional one. That way I can have a stock mani or hotside onhand in the event I ever need/want to go back. Ultimately I came to the conclusion that it was not worth the expense to purchase a second hotside to have ported/coated. That'd be like $250.00 just for the hotside itself, not including the port/coating I'd want. that'd ultimately be like $310.00~ which is IMO, money spent better elsewhere.
Rotors aren't that hard to change either btw
I'm not, because I don't have an Evo. Haha... No really, I'm not going... Vacation time... Sucks too, that weekend should be awesome.. Benny Benassi on Friday, Warped Tour on Saturday, GT Live Sunday... sigh. I will probably be at the COBB BBQ though, who else is gonna go to that?

I went to bed early last night (well midnight) so I could be up at Miller at 7:45 am for my FIRST TRACK DAY!!!!!! Passing Porsches FTW!!!! (Sorry Jake. I know if you were driving the Porsche I wouldn't have a chance, but hey, you weren't so I toasted them). I recommend track days to EVERYONE. The Evo was great. Stopped on a dime, turned in like a champ and I was on the gas way before a lot of the other cars. There were some sweet GT3's and turbos there that some of the instructors had. BADAZZ!! If you can't tell, it was awesome. See pics below.

They just pulled the head, we will check it out more when we pull the block. Thinking possible oil pump failure, rod bolts, cracked or bent rod. I'm really not sure, what do you think happened? If I were to do rod bolts then I might as well do the rest and build the bottom end with some rods, pistons, rod bolts and main studs now that would be cool

From pics I can't tell what went wrong all I can do is guess. In one pic it looks like the big end of the rod is still attached to the crank...so the rod broke in half. This is could be from severe detonation with buckets o boost. If it were me, I would go through the fuel, meth & ignition system (check fuel press & flow...check power and grounds on the primary ignition as well as resistance in the secondary system) to make sure there wasn't any kind of failures there.
Well, with the stock style turbo, I would think that just replacing rod bolts would be sufficient (they're a weak link in the stock assembly).......60$ vs. $2000 for a bottom end kit & machine work on top of that.

p.s. I like me a good bucket o boost from time to time.
